Yep, there are “keto” baws in this thread defending it who openly talk about having entire days dedicated to cheating
let's not take it that far here, when i say 'cheating,' i mean i allow myself one carb-filled meal a day on the weeks, not some all day frick fest with carbs, bread, pasta and fried shite.

though i will say that the cheat meals leave me a lil dizzy afterwards.

All meat and high fat diets... What could go wrong?

I don't know. Let's ask the Inuit who have been living on that diet for thousands of years and are perfectly healthy.

So you have the clinical documentation to support no comorbidities as result of a high fat nearly all protein diets for humans for "thousands of years and are perfectly healthy." ?

Please provide the "thousands of years" supporting data to support this statement.

There is the evidence that when the agricultural revolution happened changing the diet to more grain based from hunter gatherer that people became manlets compared to their former selves.

I was very successful on the keto diet and lost about 25-30 lbs while on it. I have strayed far from the diet and all of the weight has come back but this is based on my terrible eating and drinking choices.

I lost 40, and it was actually about 10-15 pounds too many. I looked unhealthy. That's when I switched to lazy keto. I don't really count my carb, fat, or protein intake anymore. I eat low carb for breakfast and lunch M-F, then whatever I want on the weekends. I gained back the 10-15 I needed and have been maintaining that for over a year now, for the most part. Vacations and the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays will throw me off and I'll put on a few pounds.

You gained the weight back because you are more calories than you burned. Keto is a dieting tool, not a magic bullet. You don't suddenly gain fat from the introduction of carbs back in the diet, water weight...sure, but not body fat.

Body fat is only burned from being in a caloric deficit.

OP, as the boards huge iifym guy, I do a version of keto because I care about my health. The latest study on the effects of adding 40g of MCT or 40g of evoo on heart health and other health markers was just the icing on the cake.

But remember, most health benefits come from the weight loss itself. Fat loss only happens in a caloric deficit, no matter the diet. Keto is only a tool, consistency is the main key.

I was definitely running a surplus in calories due to an upgrade in regards to my lifestyle. I was taking my family out to eat quite often and would enjoy vast quantities of craft beers. That combination led to a quickly expanding waistline and tight-fitting clothes.

Ding ding. Lsu777 knows this stuff and is 100% right

Layne Norton had a good post about this the other day

Does X diet work? Are you in a calorie deficit? If yes, then the answer is yes.

Hit your protein and calories for the day for your TDEE, and the rest of the calories can come from where you wish. Been doing IIFYM for 10 years and lost 80 lbs.

I have plenty of studies showing that replacing carbs with healthy fats will improve the health markers of most individuals.

The newest study showed a dramatic improvement in total cholesterol, lower ldl, extreme increase in hdl, and lower blood triglycerides/resting blood sugar when 90-100g of carbs in the diet was replaced with 40g of MCT or evoo oil. Regular butter(grass fed was not tested) did not improve these markers, in fact made them worse.

If you want the name of the study let me know. Btw I am the resident keto hater according to lost on here, mainly because I tell the truth of fat loss.

I was in a bad marriage and started drinking beer everyday to calm my nerves and eating too much, got fat as frick.

Got rid of the wife and started Keto the 3rd week of May 2019, as of this weekend I've lost 32 lbs.

I workout daily too but feel amazing, best I've felt in years.

i like keto-influenced eating as a diet because you can cut calories while feeling full more easily. i also like meat

Yep and for most people this will be enough to get your health back in order. There are some heart and longevity benefits to keto and IF, but consistently hitting your macros no matter the diet is going to have the biggest difference.

For most, just a simple 3 days 45 min progressive overload lifting program with 10 min of hard conditioning at the end and simply hitting 1g of protein per lbs of be and staying in an overall caloric deficit is going to do absolute wonders for them.

This is why I enjoyed keto so much more than straight calorie counting, I struggled to get above 1500 calories daily with keto whereas staying under 2k calories was damn near impossible with calorie counting.

hormones do play a role in this, too

now i'm not saying keto fixes this, but some people argue it does

but outside of eating, if you're stressed your cortisol levels will make losing weight much harder and your caloric deficit will have to increase

eating satiating foods is the primary issue with most diets. diets that waste lots of calories on carbs create issues b/c carbs are usually not satiating. fat, fiber, and protein are, so that's why keto-based stuff works

whenever i'm really eating well i also love things like apples. apples aren't keto, but they give you some natural sugar for a treat/dessert and, more importantly, fill you the frick up.
