I listened to most of the podcast, but I don't think I listened to the last 30 or so minutes.
I listened to the Rogan Podcast. I think her trials and tribulations are probably real but her timeline was kinda off. Seems like she did things for "years and years" then said she was only xx age. Struck me as a lot of different events and a lot of time for each event only to be such a young age when finished.
The father story threw me off. She mentioned leaving her dad to die and didn't tell him they were escaping then later burrying him?
I think a lot of the inconsistencies could be her still learning English language. Likely her third language to learn after Korean and Chinese as well as knowing very little about anything growing up due to North Korean solitude and isolationism.

Whew, just trying to keep up.

apparently she's said in the past that she burried her dad, but on Rogan she said her and her mother escaped NK without telling him.
This was what I was going to say. There are a lot of things she said on the Rogan interview that didn’t really make a whole lot of sense to me. There are inconsistencies in what she says.
Joe asked her why he couldn’t go and she said he was sick and then quickly said that only women were allowed to escape to China, not men. Joe asked her why that was and she said she has no idea and never found out why.
I think she’s really a NK defector and frick that hell hole, but I think she really could be lying about some of her stories. Why? I have no earthly clue. I guess to make her more popular or to make more money.

She did say that but also said her father was smuggled out after she got to China.

This is directed at the author of the article right?
I mean yes....but if you're really worried about how true her story is then you're just as dumb as the author.

Ask Joe Biden and Tara Reade

She did go on to say that it was likely due to the male/female ratio in China being extremely skewed towards male due to 1 child policy and male favoritism of the parents. Now China needs more women to breed.

But they still send you back to NK if you get caught right? That’s what I thought she said also, that the Chinese police would send them back if they were discovered to have been defectors

Yeah, saying she is lying isn't saying NK isn't a shithole.
This is a satellite image that shows North Korea at night..
They don't hide all of the stuff they hide because its so wonderful there.
They have three or four classes. There is the workers class, core class, wavering class and hostile class.. The worker class might be after core I think.. I know the core class are those who are supposedly loyal to the NK regime and then after that, there isn't much between the other classes.

The chick that played in American Pie? WTF does she have to do with anything?

Just look at google satellite images of NK. No cars on the road or anywhere. Weeds on airport runways. It’s easy to see nothing is happening compared to 20 miles over the boarder with SK.
It’s a shithole.
It’s a shithole.

I read more of her story, I had only be exposed to parts. My feeling is she is likely describing a "shared" experience. I think everything she describes has happened and has happened more than once but I am dubious about it all happening to her. I imagine the US defectors to NK probably told them some tales with a grain of truth.
It is similar to how when relating an urban legend* people tend to tell it from a very close POV (friend, cousin, even themselves) as they believe it to be true and the closeness adds supposed credence.
*not suggesting anything she has related is not true, I am sure it has all happened multiple times to someone
