Question for the posters not from The South.

What is the etiquette up North or out West when you meet a funeral procession coming down the road? Is it the same as down here where you pull over to the side of the road, turn your lights on, and men take off their hats? Just curious.

I’ve never done that in the South. I’ve pulled over if a cop is leading it but that’s it.

I’ve never seen one where a cop wasn’t leading it.

This is how I’ve always seen it done here in my area of Louisiana.

We slow down and turn our lights on.

Maybe you heathen city slickers. I’ve encountered 3 in the last week. 2 in Calcasieu Parish and 1 in a small town in Mississippi. Everyone pulled over and waited for the first 15 or so cars to pass before they started driving again.

If they are going the same way I punch it to completely avoid; if it's the opposite way, I just keep rolling.

Lifelong southern resident. If on a two-lane road, I’ll pull over. Otherwise, I do the sign of the cross and keep it moving.

this is way more common in the midwest than the south
people don't pull over for emergency vehicles in the south

I've never heard of this
I always pull over though
I was in a funeral procession this past week. It was about an hour drive from the funeral home to the cemetery. 90% of people pulled over.
One guy got completely out of his car and put his hand over his heart.

Is the funeral hogging the left lane?

Unpopular opinion. Having law enforcement jumping through traffic to stop traffic ahead of funeral processions is the dumbest shite in the world.
