For those living on the west coast, climate change is often sited as a reason for the uptick in fires. Could the massive stormwater management program to feed the central valley with water be the main problem? I think it was the CVP program of the 60s.

They've been arresting ANTIFA members left and right for starting these.

Climate doesn't do this.

Blaming the fires on one reason is dumb there are bunch of contributing factors here and yes climate change is one of the reasons they've become so intense

The main problem if forest mismanagement. Lack of thinning, extinguishing 95% of fires when they start and building houses in the middle of forest that are going to burn eventually is the issue. The forests are too dense and lead to extreme fires when they inevitably start to burn.

Lack of controlled burns to clear out the underbrush. This type of prevention was stopped years ago.

The Reagan Library was saved from a wildfire recently due to the use of goats. The goats grazed in fields around the library, which kept the area clear.

That's just absurd. Everyone knows wildfires didn't exist prior to 2016

I know. Then you add in humans collecting what water is there for farming, and massive fires.

I’m in Washington and it hasn’t rained worth a shite the last 2 months or so, maybe only 2 days. Everything is dry, my grass is brown, and dumbasses are setting off fireworks for gender reveals. Although supposedly someone here lit a fire pit when winds were around 20 mph and the embers caught the forest on fire

They hit "record" highs last week which is obviously what caused the fires. Everyone knows that everything catches fire at :insert scary ambient temperature here: and that the climate changing is obviously what's caused the earth to catch fire. Please, do not try to reason with anyone that mismanagement of the forest likely being the reason these fires aren't being contained easier.

Lack on controlled burns and forest management is another factor that does not help.

It could never be attributed to cutting down millions of trees that used to slow the Santa Ana winds down, to build the big cities that are burning.

Forestry management is a big one.

Californian's would rather save a sparrow then cut down a tree.

Acting like there is one cause (climate change) to these fires is ridiculous.

Acting like climate change has nothing to do with the severity of the fires is also pretty ridiculous.

Actine like climate change is all man-made or that humanity can really stop it short of population culling is also pretty ridiculous.

It's all an extremely complex system, this isn't like hitting the switch on your gas fireplace.

ETA: And yes, poor forestry management is absolutely part of the equation.

What a well thought out and cogent argument.

the issue is democrat tree huggers having three states' legislature by the balls.

They have restricted or outright banned controlled burns and clear cut lanes to protect people in the name of the environment.

Well now that beautiful environment is on fricking fire. Congrats hippies. Hope you're happy. A few arsonists and now your lush green nature is burning when it could have been prevented.
