Q3 economic results “resilient” consumers keep spending. Was Covid the Mask off moment?

No pun intended but was the mask of the American consumer ripped off by the covid related (blamed as an excuse) inflation? And when I ask this I mean did companies finally figure out they can keep ratcheting up prices and Americans will just keep spending? Before Covid companies were terrified of raising prices for fear of consumers curbing spending. Nobody wanted to be a first mover in raising prices. But with Covid they all could move in unison and blame supply chain shortages etc.
American refuse to “go without” and keep spending on products and services regardless of how much everyone complains about how everything is “too expensive” now.

Credit card debt is through the roof. At some point the music will stop. I won't pretend to know shite about the economy or how it'll all play out but there seems to be a huge portion of this country that feels entitled and there are a lot of financial intuitions that are happy to oblige their spending into oblivion.

Starbucks line is full every morning i drive by it. Mother frickers rather pay $6 for a cup of shitty coffee than 30 cents to brew their pwn in a keurig. Then get to " work" where they frick off 5/8 hours and complain about how they dont make enough. Get into their pavement princess truck they dont need with 6 years left on their 8 year note and cry when they have to spend $105 to fill it up instead of $95.
People have been bitching about muh cost of living since the 90s while being the richest and most well off humans to ever exist.

You, like so many others threw out some pretty broad signs of how you think “most” people are living. No big deal except for the 8 year loan crap. How many baws do you think actually take out 8 year loans?

Everybody is YOLO'ing their paychecks.

We are literally watching the separation of rich and poor.
Im not talking about having a good job, Im talking about people who have minimal to no debt and a big bank roll meaning they can keep this up all the middle class wants.

It seems like every generation thinks like this, like the world is in fact going to end, then it doesn't and their end of life is not so pleasant.

A massively high percentage of people are behind on payments for everything and live paycheck to paycheck.
The average family income is less that 100k and once everything is paid for, the families don’t have extra money

Unless you know how to live.
Most people waste money, literally waste it. We aren't talking some advanced stuff here, we are talking basic finance and the large majority doesn't have even the slightest idea of wtf is going on. They see a bill they pay it. No questions asked, not because they don't have them but because they don't know what to ask.
How can you have people in their late 50's early 60s buying a house that they will pay a mortgage on? Or older folks who outright stop paying property tax, unbeknownst to theirs, and just let it accumulate with the juice on until they pass.
Its crazy the waste out there, absolutely crazy.

You really trust these numbers right before an election cycle going poorly for the incumbents? Would you like to buy an NFT of some oceanfront property in Arizona?

No reason not to when they offer 0% interest.
My TV, fridge and washer and dryer set have all been bought with Samsung/affirm at 0% interest.

im currently saving up for a car i want
i mentioned it to a coworker and looked at me like i was crazy, asked me why i was saving instead of just going for it and paying whatever the monthly was.
i said 'i want a big down payment so i can keep payments low and pay it off quick'
continued looking at me like i was crazy, changed the subject. i guess people dont do that anymore
