10 and if it is for business and they're late they are costing you time which is money. If it is personal and they're always late they don't value your time.

Yeah, I always go to my doctor early, usually get out early too.

If you ever work with Natives, you'll find out quickly they don't worry about time. Its just not important to them. Neither is calling in if you're not going to be at work.

It shouldn't be that way but it is

But I am rarely late and almost always early for any scheduled meeting. I always call, if possible, if there is any chance I will be running late. I am less concerned if I am meeting with a person who is habitually late.

Pops had a saying that was similar to this. He said if you're 10 minutes early you're on time. If you're on time, you're late.

Punctuality = respect.

If you are early, you are on time.
If you are on time, you are late.
If you are late, don’t bother coming.

This is an idiotic saying.

What is the point of having a scheduled time if you're telling me that arriving at that time makes one late?

always leave early when going to an appointment, to allow for stopping if necessary, traffic or road conditions. It does mean I usually arrive 10-25 minutes early everywhere I go.
I get this but I normally wait in my car. I don't go into the hair salon, doctors office, etc 25 minutes early. And especially not someone's house or a restaurant. Also as someone said earlier, if I arrive 25 minutes early and you are 5 minutes late- I did not wait for you for 30 minutes. I waited 5.

For those type of appointments I’ll show up 15-20 minutes early and just sit and patiently wait and read in the waiting area. Sometimes they can see me earlier but I never expect it.

My salon will fix me a coffee or tea while I wait.

Used to be 10 out of 10 but after having 2 kids it's slipped to 7/10 because my 4 year old can make you leave late anyhow you try to get out the door early.

It is a 11 for me. If you will be late at least call saying when you will be there. Being perpetually late is the absolute ultimate form of disrespect for others.

I'm always on time and loathe people that aren't. When looking for a house in New Orleans, I fired my first 6 realtors at our first meeting. They were all late.

I did give them 5 minutes slack. If you are late for our very first meeting, it's a clear indication how you handle your business and I want no part of that.

To expand on my previous post…

If I’m not on time for anything something unexpected happened to make me late. How early I aim to arrive depends on how important it is that I’m on time and how likely it is that circumstances can make me late.

For example, I used to fly out of Atlanta sometimes when I lived four hours away on I-85/65. A lot of shite can happen on a four hour interstate drive to Atlanta plus parking, etc. I would aim to be at ATL about four hours early to give myself plenty of time to deal with a wreck on the interstate, a flat tire, a full parking lot, busy security line, etc. I didn’t want any of that to frick up my trip to Italy, France, wherever. So I sought to arrive extra early because being late would be a big problem.

Now if I were just meeting a friend for lunch in a small town at a familiar restaurant three miles away with plenty of parking and the odds of something causing me to be late were very slim - and even if something did happen (a wreck on the road, etc.) it wouldn’t be a big deal to just text and let them know I will be a few minutes late - I will aim to walk in the door about 10 minutes early. Change that from a friendly meeting to a business meeting with a new client and make it 20-30 minutes early.
