Chase Bank Sucks

Their new commercial is awful too.

USAA works for my wife and me. Don't want to deal with those "big banks" and their mentality.

what is the advantage of using a big bank?

Travel. I had my wallet stolen while on vacation. Within an hour, I had access to my money, because there was a chase in town

Not surprised in the least bit that this is a Breesus thread nor am I surprised at all the downvotes.

"Chase is providing me a service and wants to charge me for it!"

they wave mine all the time. i will get -$3.00 all over my statement. then at the beginning of the month I will get a bunch of +$3.00

You get 4 free per month or unlimited depending what account you have. If you have the cheapest one that only requires 1500.00 daily balance then you get charged for them. I have never had a problem with them but I'm not bringing in bags of change expecting then to count it for me. I only go a couple times a year.

i hate Chase too, but this is really all the big banks. They have no incentive to provide service, and screw you every chance they can. Thus, i went with smaller local banks: Regions, Hancock, Whitney.

Sadly, Chase is still my car loan holder as they gave me the best deal, from the dealer. I called my guy at Chase who offered 6%, then go to the dealer who gets me 2% from Chase, a rate they would not even give a long term customor.

I'm going to start an LLC called Coin Fees, deposit all my coins without rolling into that account and then just transfer it to my personal account. I like that solution better.

They will do it for business accounts because they actually make money off of business accounts.

They charge you a fee to cash a check if you don't have an account even if the check is written from a chase account.

So stay with Capital One who does none of those things.

I can tell you Capital One most certainly charges you for non-customer check cashing.

We have a credit union account at a very, very small credit union, that actually only issues checks, and the check is a Capital One check. I wanted to take like $500 out of my savings account to buy something. Person only took cash. I just figured it would be easier for me to just cash the check at Capital One.

They wanted to charge me $7. Nope. Went and deposited the check in my bank at Gulf Coast and just got $500 cash from that account.

It is really stupid. I may not be Capital One's customer, but the credit union most certainly is. I'm getting money out of an account THEY service, and they want to charge me a fee? Insane.

You are incorrect. Capital One, like most banks, does charge non customers to cash checks. There is a risk to cash these checks and the fee is used to offset the possible loss.

Also, what you are missing is that the reason they asked if you were a business to deposit the loose coins, is because if you were, the fee that the bank pays to the vault/carrier to deposit those coins, charges the bank a fee, and that fee is most of the time passed on to the business with analysis charges, cash deposit charges or some sort of combination of those things.

And you are correct, they would take your word for the amount you were depositing in coins and give you immediate credit, however, after the vault counted your coins, if you were in accurate, your account would be adjusted accordingly.

The new government bank regulation is expensive and costly, and this gets passed on to the customer with fees and expense reduction, such as laying off tellers, etc which is why they are pushing you to use online and they don't want to deal with your dirty coins that the bank makes no money on when handling or servicing.

A) You can cash it at your own bank. It makes no sense to me to be upset when you've got an account elsewhere and you go to the bank where the check is drawn to get the money.

B) If they don't cash checks for non-customers, that is an issue for the credit union and Chase. If it is that much of an inconvenience, Chase can waive it for clients of a particular company if it is worth it.

C) You can thank your regulators for these type of fees. Combine regulation with low interest rates and banks had to make up the revenue somewhere.

Are banks allowed to charge a fee to honor a check written on their accounts?

Yes. Their obligation is to the account holder, not the 3rd party who is receiving the check.

There are chase banks and ATM's everywhere. Even internationally. That's the best thing about Chase - being able to get your money anywhere in the world at any time.

I prefer smaller local banks. I was with Bank Of new Orleans for years. Now it's Home Bank and it's not as good so I may switch.

I also use Ally. I still have a Chase account and a Cap 1 account with barely anything in them.

I never close accounts just open new ones.

I bank with Chase along with a couple other banks. Chase is great bc I love that they stay with the most updated technology. The complaints in this thread would be the same complaints at most banks.
