It should have been built that way originally. Planners should have known a major east-west interstate's intersection with a major US highway was going to be a high volume area. More stupid and horrible infrastructure planning by Louisiana's finest. A cloverleaf interchange? Bitch please.
Bitch,
The overpass was originally constructed in 1962. Do a little homework and check out how 99.9% of the interchanges in the US were being built in that era. It was the current practice at the time.

No one had any forward thinking in the 60s. The cloverleaf interchange is the shitstain on the history of infrastructure building.

Andddddddddd we still only have two bridges crossing the MS River in BR. Greattttttt
I had to look this up: The state could have built 3 Audubon Bridges for what it cost to widen the Huey P Long bridge in New Orleans.

Cloverleafs suck. A lot have been replaced over the years, but for some reason US 61 and US 190 remain pretty neglected in the Baton Rouge region.

Little will be done. Costs will bloat. Politicians and their friends make a shitload of money. Rinse. Repeat.

There were a bunch of proposed small connectors in the green light plan that would have done wonders that aren't in this new plan.
They should have included bribe money to get Southwest Airlines service to BTR. I don't see that itemized.

Should be widened all the way to Gonzales.

That connection across the tracks doesn't link up with Kenilworth. You'll have to turn on to Perkins.
That depiction on the map online is wrong. There is a for sale sign on the property across from Kenilworth at Perkins. The map on the sign depicts the future Kenilworth extension, which will be directly across the street.
If Broome changed that, she's an even bigger idiot that she already is. But it does go to show you that however many people looked at this map before it went public didn't take the time to say "gee, something doesn't line up right there." The administration in a nutshell....
Edit: Looking at the map, I have no idea where they are planning for that to go. There are some expensive houses backing up to that suggested right of way.

It's not called Mall of La Blvd though. Edit: Paulat Boulevard.
This is happening, with bike lanes included. It requires a new underpass for the railroad. That name is horrible though, hopefully it is just a working name before a rename to Mall of LA Blvd.
Also, I love that the bike path between Country Club and College is getting resurfaced. Talk about someone calling in a favor.

Why is one of the biggest clusterfricks in the city never addressed: 12/Airline Interchange.
Federal highway meets federal interstate. Baton Rouge probably has little say in that.

I'm a resident of AP and think it is unfair for EBR property owners to foot the bill for roads the entire metro region uses.
We should set up a metro region transportation authority and create dedicated funds through Brake Tags, Sales Taxes, and Highway use fees for each vehicle registered in the metro parishes.
Get the frick out of here with your reasonable ideas.

They need to have a plan to continue Corporate through Valley Park and connect to Bawell with a roundabout. It would help clear up some of the College dr. /Corporate mess. You wouldn't even have to tear much down honestly.
The Hennessy extension to perkins Rd. not connecting to Kennilworth is laughable. It needs to be done, but the city would have to buy up and tear down a half dozen million dollar homes.

Had to wonder how that got in there.

I'm not complaining, I lived over there growing up and rode that bike path almost daily.
I wonder if the house at the end of Silliman is still technically on Hundred Oaks.

I would hate to live on Lee right now, they are going to end up buying a portion of every lot to widen the road. It won't be as bad as Staring but the road will be right outside some people's front door. Another bad section of Lee is where it hits Burbank. All I want is a right turn lane there during baseball season

Both the interstates as well as Airline Highway should receive state and federal funds for enhancement. Locals should not tax themselves to pay for improving those IMO.
Should already have been under improvement, but La is too stupid to understand the concept of a toll road.

Maybe they should've predicated his fricking rezoning on his funding road expansion around his complex...

Well, that's not the local government's responsibility.
The reason so much if not all of the interstate system runs thru the middle of B.R. is.....local,short-sighted,developers,speculators,business owner, politicians etc. WANTED it that way !
The Feds folded and like magic we get the only one lane interstate transition in the entire nation !
WHY, the civil engineers that signed off on this clusterfYHJ, is beyond reason ! WHO did this and why were they not hanged ??????

TBH, this was not just a BTR thing. The MO in the 50s-60s was to run those new highways right through the intercity where all the minorities lived. You can see it across the country.

They are going to be redoing that whole intersection regardless of if this passes or not.
