I don’t think you and you’re buddy are understanding what adoption means.
It means “this is my child”. It doesn’t mean “this is my child on the condition that I continue to have a relationship with his/her biological parent(s).

yeah they wanted to change her last name
This bitch had this divorce and free money planned looong before the name change.
I’m sure many subtle hints about the poor step child feeling different were said and eventually the name was changed.
I’ll guess it wasn’t long later she bounced?

That's an absolutely full retard level reason. My step son has never once been teased for having a different last name than his mothers. Kids don't even know about that shite.
100% convinced your friend, is you, and you’re a grade A dumbass.

"your friend" may have the worst lawyer in the history of lawyers.

Not necessarily. My wife and I claim her son (my step son) every year.
I'm sure it can differ based on agreements (ie they can rotate between the father and mother) but seeing as my stepson spends 99.99% of his time in my home it makes sense.

Your friend is a moron for marrying someone with a child.
Never do that.
Never do that.

Because the child is legally his, so he's not being punished. I adopted my wife's daughter and the Judge even said in court that if my wife and I got divorced that I could owe child support.

So she isn’t double dipping then? Real dad doesn’t need to spend the weekend with her anymore I guess

I adopted my daughter who is my ex wife's, biologically. And then the bitch got stupid and started doing stupid things. I filed for divorce and won custody. Her mom is supposed to pay me child support which she never has. I only get pissed about the child support because I would legitimately use it for my daughter. A mere $150/mo.
But yeah, I won't get started on that.

If the birth certificate was changed and your friend is listed as the dad then nope. My daughter's was changed with my name as the father and the pos biological father has no parental rights.

Hmm. Someone with more experience with this should chime in but I don’t think bio-dad would be obligated to pay any support for a child someone else adopted. I wouldn’t think he’d have any custodial rights or obligations at this point.
EDIT: I suppose I guessed correctly according to the guy above me.

Legally the kid is his, so he has to pay child support.
