It’s unclear if the juveniles or their parents will face charges as driving a golf cart on the roadway is against the law.

Lock em up.

It's a fricking nuisance in St. Tammany. You see kids no older than 12 riding these carts all over the fricking place.

not sure where you live exactly, but my Mandeville neighborhood is overrun. i try to be very pro-kid, but the number of like REALLY young kids driving around on golf carts and texting is insane. like this goes beyond "get off my lawn" irritation. it's a real hazard, and it's only thanks to truly vigilant and hyper-aware drivers in my neighborhood that someone hasnt been seriously hurt or killed. i stay away for the most part from the neighborhood facebook bitch sessions by angry Karens who are always mad about kids doing literally anything, but they are right about this topic.

Yep. Kids should not lawlessly drive around in golf carts unless licensed and insured drivers.
The Nothshore SDs are full of them. Children staring at their iPhones in golf carts and electric scooters/bikes just riding in the middle of the road and running stop signs.

This woman is not at fault for the accident, but if she did leave the scene she is guilty of that.

Totally agree. The golf cart is not street legal and certainly not so with kids driving it. That was not some subdivision neighborhood street, that looked like a main drag for that area and the driver of the cart turned into the lane as she was trying to pass.

Leaving the scene did her no good with being caught on camera by another vehicles on-board rear view camera. She stops she's in the clear----unless she was impaired in some way.

I live in the largest of said subdivisions and it is infested with kids in golf carts. But we slow down and treat them with the same caution we do naive kids on bikes. Locking up a kid over this is dumb. I’ll die on that hill

But the golf cart probably had no turn signals.
bikes dont have turn signals and they are allowed... golf carts arent allowed on the road for other reason. AND upi can get a street legal cart.

All the people saying the cart is at 100% fault remind me of the people that say "Well you shouldnt have left your doors unlocked." When someone's cart gets burglarized.

Was the cart in the wrong for being on the road....most likely. but you are in a fricking 5000# vehicle. no reason to speed around a golf cart like that potentially killing people. Honk your horn, they will get out the way.

I drive my cart all over my neighborhood. I used to pull over to allow cars to go by. Now i have a navitas and i can go 40.

We had no bike, walking lanes and all of a sudden golf cart lanes.
Mandeville cops are worthless enforcement of lawlessness.
No deer, rabbits, possums, raccoons left just 10,000 + sq ft box houses and golf carts.

Nowhere in the accompanying link to the story was there any mention of alcohol being involved.

You are just making assumptions, much like those lawyers were making when that black kid drowned a month or so ago who was with a group of white kids.

I live near a major state road, lots of traffic, and after school is total anarchy. Dirt bikes, four-wheeler, golf carts etc on the main damn road amongst the traffic.

Why younger.people have no respect for decency and are lawless. They are raised by parents that use $ to avoid their responsibilities to teach morals.
Lawlessness. Just like the rest of society.

yea everyone who said alcohol "probably" involved are assuming....

Look at statistics. When someone flees a crime like this it is because they are drunk or already wanted.. Using your example... when a black boy drowns... it is not usually because of some white kids...

fleeing the scene makes the likelihood of an impaired driver more than just a wild assumption. pretty terrible comparison to the black kid drowning situation.

This.. my neighborhood I swear has more pre-teen girls cruising around on golf carts than being normal and riding a bike...

And don't get me started on the little E-Biker gang .. Those little frickers are the worst... eventually one of them is going to have to be scraped of the road..

Let’s be “nice” to the privileged then. Little less harsh.
Pull every cart over. Licensed driver, insurance, inspection, etc.
But illegal drivers ( like illegal aliens but excuses for lawlessness). Stop the cart, call the parents then tickets for unlicensed driving, uninsured motor vehicle, etc.
Mandatory Appearance in Juvenile by children, both parents pay huge fines and 180 days probation for failure to properly supervise their children.
Happens a few times and the gossiping Sophisticated Women in Mandeville will get the warnings out as part of their regular gossip scene.
Nonsense will halt in short time.
