I am pretty old and was raised in a Catholic household where one side was Southern Scots Irish and the other side were Ellis Island NYC Sicilians. Everybody in the old NYC neighborhood was Italian or European Jew. Very tactile people especially the older ones when interacting with small children. Very normal if you grew up this way.
