The OT hates on Slidell a lot because it was on Live PD and posters just parrot all the other tards on here

To be fair, there isnt much of anything anywhere that is good enough for most of the OT.

If you have a daughter, she will probably get pregnant by 17.

Exactly.

If you have children, choose a subdivision primarily based on school district. Northshore High generally produces more National Merit Finalists than any other non-magnet public school in the state.

Haved moved on from Slidell so my comments are slightly dated but Slidell is not just a good but a great place to live.

If you don't fish, learn. It won't be hard to find someone to take you along. So many good people there. So much great fishing.

Good schools, parks, restaurants, churches, proximity to great beaches.

Honest, I have no idea where all the negativity towards Slidell comes from.

Wha? Hinterland...‘down I-59 into Mississippi’

It once was but it isn't the same. The politicians have sold that town out to Section 8 and the citizens have no clue

I moved here from Metairie to purchase a business in the mid 90's...while it's not as "white" as it used to be there isn't a lot more crime than in those days...more than then, but crime has increased everywhere on the north shore at about the same rate... We did get an influx from Katrina of Chalmations and New Orleanians, so the influx of Chalmations who afaic do not like the darker populations, sort of offset the situation, and even Belair has sort of reversed the trend and many of the unwanted families are going back to N.O. or are moving to other areas.

Now some here on the OT may speak bad about Chalmations as well...but in my interactions with them ,you will never find a more friendly outgoing people that would do anything to help you out anytime...that more than makes up for the loud brash nature and accents...made some good friends with some are still friends to this day.

If this is the case, then I would 2nd the poster that said Bay St. Louis. I have relatives that live there and they love it. You can live in town (it is actually a pretty cool old town imho) or on the Jourdan River.

Here is a link with a house from a neighborhood I am familiar with. I am not associated with it at all (I live in Covington), but the house across the street is family. The views are really nice. At any rate, it is food for thought.

It’s a great place to live. Move somewhere off Military Rd. (Quail Ridge, Turtle Creek, Cross Gates) and you’ll be in the best school district and close to Fremaux where they have a lot of shopping and restaurants. There’s a lot of “lake life” near Oak Harbor and you just can’t beat the proximity to Nola, beaches, west St. Tammany, etc.

Agreed. I don’t know why Chalmations catch so much flak. Everyone I’ve met from there has been super nice.

Born and raised. I won’t move back though. The dynamics totally changed after Katrina.

If you’re moving there; Robert Rd extension, Military Rd, parts of Bayou Liberty Rd, and the state streets would be where I’d move if I had to. OT ain’t what it used to be and well, besides that, there isn’t much night life.

I have quite a few friends in Slidell. They love it there. I go to Slidell fairly regularly and I don't get the hate either. Is it perfect...no, but what place really is?

I lived in crossgates and my two younger siblings and I all went through the northshore high school district and it’s fantastic. My grandparents lived off Carr drive and it was amazing over there. My parents have lived in lakeshore estates since 2013 and love being on the water and that area.

I would absolutely look somewhere off military road to be in the Northshore High school district.

They have some nice houses off of Indian Village Rd in a few of the neighborhoods there. Just don't go to far towards the Pearl as it floods

Up is down and down is up?

Sounds like something at Stennis?

Avoid the Picayune metroplex & Pearl River, LA. Morans aplenty. Shitty schools.

Ain’t nothing wrong with the Dell. It has everything you need. Buy a boat. Enjoy the water. It’s also an underrated food town.
