Being honest I have never driven a stick (I’m 30). My parents didn’t have one when I was growing up and I never learned it with anyone else
My in laws have an old Corolla that’s a manual, I should see if they’ll let me learn on that.

I use to be a bit upset about the manuals going away. But now modern cars are so shitty with their features it doesn't really even matter. Everything about them annoys me. Your gonna have to buy an older car anyway.
I absolutely loath the switch to screen controls for everything. I know I sound like an old man here but I like buttons, knobs and switches. They are intuitive and I don't have to take my eyes off the road to use them. Plus when they inevitably go bad you lose 80 percent of the functionality of the car.
It's crazy to me how much more valuable older cars are getting. Even the fairly normal models. I had a rwd mitsubishi starion turbo manual that I absolutely loved back in the 90s. I got nostalgic a while back and wanted to buy one but nice examples are 20k-30k.
My oldest son has a 90s model subaru thats mint inside. Sometimes I just like to sit in it and remember the simpler times. Just the look and feel of the interior triggers hard core nostalgia. Then I take it out for a ride and damn that manual trans is fun.

When I was shopping for insurance on my old chevy, the agent asked if there was a theft deterrent device installed. I told her it had a four speed. She laughed and factored it in. It probably didn't amount to much of a discount anyway.

As why even bother with a car like that if it is an automatic?

I thoguht the regular GT3 was available with a straight shift.

And, tbh, if you're younger and buying a 911, it likely will be your DD, so even less incentive to own a manual.
That’s another factor. With the urbanization of America, clogged roads, traffic jams, and deteriorating infrastructure…. The opportunities to truly enjoy a high performance manual transmission are becoming increasingly rare.

Variety is the spice of life, many rather an apple over a mechanical timepiece these days.
Some like automatics over manuals.

Ehhh comparing a timex to pdk
I’ve owned 3 Porsche’s and your opinion is laughable

You are missing the sarcasm and the comparison, Hoss.
I've had several 911s in the garage as well

My 16 year old daughter can, and is her daily driver. Any man that cannot drive a manual, is not really a man

Even the Turbo S? That’s my dream car

25 year old son won't but knows how. 14 year old daughter can and does. We told her if she wanted to learn to drive and do some limited driving before she was 16 it was going to be in her Mama's Cooper and she learned how pretty easily. Son learned to drive in a S10 with a manual but he won't do it now for anything....

Good question.
It's a dying art. My sister(41 in April) and I(44 in June)both learned how to drive with a stick.
Everyone should learn how to drive with a standard transmission.

Nice. My 2024 JCW is the last of the MINI six speeds.

Count me in the can’t drive a manual transmission club. Born in the 80s and have never tried. Parents never had one
