Police sirens racing up St Charles in uptown New Orleans

The sound of about a dozen or so police cars racing up st Charles Avenue just woke me up. They were all about 40-60 seconds apart telling me they were coming from different places but headed in the same direction. Does anyone have any info? There’s normally hardly any police activity in this area outside of Mardi Gras so it just makes me curious what could be going on.

I’m on the scanner and it sounds like a suspect shot a police officer. Suspect at 4930 Coliseum .. officer has been transported to hospital

Well I had to know the nature of this horrendous cacophony that arose me from my slumber so I could pay someone to have it dealt with post haste.
ETA: in all seriousness Jesus. That type of thing really doesn’t happen over here and I have two friends moving into a house 4 blocks from there in about a month.

Had a shootout by the bank. Suspect ran to a house on coliseum. Police surrounded it and got him. Think one cop was wounded but I believe he’s fine.
