There were reports of an armed suspect in the area fitting the same description, and this guy was slowly walking up to the cops with a hand behind his back. I don't think it would of been safe to taser him considering he acted like he had a weapon. I'd assume in all likelihood a taser would make him drop his weapon, but he may be able to still shoot a gun as they don't always put people down.
Yeah I understand that. How many officers were on the scene? Perhaps some could have drawn lethal weapons while others drew a Taser?

From the article only 2 cops

There were two in the video, one with a shotgun and the other a pistol. The guy that was shot was maybe 20 feet away in the beginning and walked up to almost 10 feet away. I mean you have a shotgun pointed at you almost point blank with the cops screaming at you, and you don't listen? Suicide.
Yeah less than lethal was a possibility, but its also possible the dude gets a shot off and kills a cop.

I am trying to decide if his "life matters".
Can someone tell me how many illegitimate children he has fathered?
The more kids he has, the more his life matters?
Amirite?

I would like to see them first report that he was black then later correct the story to say he was white.

One cop had a shotgun and one had his pistol, both trained on the suspect. Maybe they didn't have tasers. Maybe they did, but the cop didn't want to take the time to holster his pistol and draw his taser.
To me, the best solution would have been for the dumbfrick to take his hand from behind his back and get on the ground.

Wrong answer. If he's holding a gun in his hand and you tase him, sympathetic reflex will cause him to pull the trigger if his finger is near the trigger well. You can't take that chance.
Besides, it's not like in the heat of the moment you have time to say, "Ok, Bill, you pull out the taser and Steve, you get the OC spray. I'll use the pistol. If he turns left, Bill, hit him. If he turns right, Steve, do your thing." It happens in an instant.

I just watched the video....that seemed a little excessive
Whoa, I just did as well. The video on WAFB is useless. There are much better videos, specifically from the guy with the handgun and not the shotgun.
There are some issues with this to say the least.

Not sure how you came up with that gem, exactly what did he do to directly threaten the officers lives?

I don't see any problem with the first two pistol shots, or even the third, once he was down. But the guy with the shotgun might have a little explaining to do.

What should the officers have done?

1.) he was told what 5-6 times at least to get on the ground? I don't feel like counting
2.) He had at least 3 guns drawn on him from what I've seen
3.) walked towards officers not following orders with a hand behind his back

They were responding to a call about a man walking around with a rifle. The guy got out with both hands out and showed both hands a few times, but obviously he wasn't compliant for the most part. He isn't hiding a rifle in his waistband though, and once he's shot in the gut and writhing on the ground, that isn't exactly justification to finish him.
Before we go any further, let me make it clear that he should have complied and he'd still be alive, but damn that doesn't excuse all of these actions by the police either.

This, it reminded me of shooting a duck floating in my pond that I had already shot twice.

he reached under his shirt still after being shot 3 times
I don't have a problem with any of this

Hint to everyone, of all ages, creeds, colors and national origin:
Cops are not fricking around when they say shite like, "Show me your hands" and "Get down on the ground."
Not fricking around at all. If you do not believe they will shoot your black/white/yellow/brown/tan/red/ashy arse, prepare to be in disbelief.
It boggles my mind that it is so goddamn difficult for some people to grasp this concept.
