I get that, I truly do, but when you opt to use deadly force, and you're wrong, there is nothing you can do to take back that life.

If you watch the WAFB video it doesn't tell the whole story. It didn't just start with the guy with his hand behind his back and 10 feet from the officers.

Right. They saw both hands multiple times. They saw his back when he exited the vehicle. Nowhere does he seem to be an imminent threat to the officers. That does not mean he was not a threat, but what standard should we apply to police?

This is a difficult situation to analyze, b/c it truly does look like a 'suicide by cop' situation, but I believe police shooting should be something of a last resort in the face of an imminent threat. Not a step along a procedural flowchart, which is the way it often looks.

I don't understand killing him. I have no problem with the cops shooting him, they basically had no choice.

Lethal force is lethal force. They will have to answer for every shot. As long as he was a credible threat, they were justified to shooting until he complied or stopped moving.

It is what it is.

Lethal force is lethal force. Once the decision is made to use it, the decision is the decision.

No, I know that from watching the cops own body cam. The only perspective of this shooting I've seen was from the cop's perspective.

And when an officer gets shot and killed bc they didn't use deadly force, there is no pause and rewind button for them either

Hypothetical here...let's say the guy actually obeys the command of police to begin with. Is he dead?

No, he's not. What is your point?

I don't know how you can say that a guy acting erratically, walking slowly towards you while continually reaching behind his back while you are telling him that you will shoot him as not a threat?

Man refuses to pull hand from behind back after police demands he do so; Gets shot for continuing to move towards police.

These videos should be titled as such instead of "Police shoots man..". By stating "Police shoots man" it makes it sound as if they just shot some dude without a legit reason.

I think it's time we all have to start wearing bodycams. That way, we can see the shooting from both perspectives. Then us armchair QBs will really know what each side should have done.

Yes, you're right. I'm just tired of every single situation being justified by "what ifs". You don't have to sell me on the initial shots, although probable cause for the stop is a little dicey. They shot him because he had his hand behind his back and he may have a gun. Okay, I get it. Once he's on the ground they shot him two more times because now he may have a gun between his shirt and his stomach? They shot him because he isn't complying? FFS, he was gut shot twice and you finish him off because he had the audacity to grab his stomach where you just shot him??
