I imagine we will see some govt programs continuing for years. Not sure about the 300, but they'll find a way to keep paying these people.

We had a young millennial girl put in her two weeks last Friday. She’s really bright and a sweetheart, and it’s a good opportunity for her. Our company is only about 6 people and we have an office but we’ve been WfH the entire existence of the company.

Right after she put in her notice, her new company said they’re ending WfH in June and she’s mildly regretting her decision. She said she’s scared to go back in to work.

She’s 31, healthy, and vaccinated. She is not scared. She just doesn’t want to go back to an office.

I don’t think the virus is nothing or a hoax. I’m not an anti-vaxer. However, I am absolutely blown away at how 100s of millions of people are actually scared of this at this point or willing to lie about it to avoid work.

They deal with cash only. They average a 300-400 credit score.

If I’m hiring tight now, any employment gap of Jan - May 2021 would be a non starter for me.

They generally work enough to buy drugs/booze and couch surf, or still live with parents.

Maybe they shouldn’t have built a factory in South Dakota.

I’m not leaving my apartment in the city to go work in SD. I’ll keep looking for jobs in the classifieds at while I collect UE and sip my soy latte at Starbucks.

Considering how many people were willing to lie about health conditions in an attempt to avoid wearing a piece of cloth over their face while at the grocery store, I’m not sure why this is surprising to you, in the least

All the young folks have moved out or are staying home living off welfare/unemployment
Guess people got tired of working hard to make practically nothing and others richer.

Plenty of businesses and rich people got six-seven figure PPP money that didn’t need it. How come that’s not a problem?

Not saying that I want to live in South Dakota but I bet if Americans were having to choose between real poverty or living in South Dakota these factories would be fully staffed. Instead they can sit in their metro area not get evicted and get paid.

Um, how big do you think the labor force is in the USA? The number I see was an estimated 164 million in February 2020. Hundreds of millions of too scared of in-person work at this point in the way our country is operating is flat-out incorrect, especially when under 5 million have been on unemployment for 26 weeks or more

Why go to work for a 12 hour shift when I can sit at home and collect almost the same amount of money..... but just wait till that extra unemployment runs out......

I am not looking forward to going back to the office. Not that I am scared of China Virus, I like WFH. Won’t quit my job over it, but I certainly prefer WFH

Hooray. More unemployed idiots doing nothing getting them gubment money.

Who are the idiots, though? The government has incentivized NOT working with this extended UI bonus. Work ethic is basically dead in this country. Like OP said, older people and immigrants filling tons of jobs while our young, prime employable people sit on their asses.
