When they ask me I always tell them no, but they are free to round down and make a donation themselves.

Local charities only. Can't say this enough.

Boys and Girls club
Big brothers/big sisters
womens shelters
etc etc.

Ive served on boards of these types, and most get to keep every dollar donated to them locally.

Why was a multi million dollar memorial needed anyway?

So a small plaque or sculpture and call it.

I donate every year to a family in need at Christmas.
(Well, not this year but that's that, I'll figure something )

I don't need a foundation or a charity.

Just real people

It has even invaded the apps to order food. We order from Domino's maybe twice a month. I can't simply place an order for a couple of pizzas without being asked to round up. There is even an option in there that lets you select always round up. After saying no to that, I proceed to check out, and another screen pops up with suggestions. If I had wanted breadsticks or drinks, I would have added those when I was putting things in the cart.

I always say no except for Pet Smart and donate $1. Pet Smart Charities helps a lot of rescues and provides food, too. When I’ve fostered, the dog food was provided by Pet Smart via the rescue.

i learned that alot of businesses will donate to a cause an undisclosed amount for the right to accept donations. when you give money or round up your purchase youre actually paying the corporation back for their donation, which really doesnt make it much of a donation at all.

I always place any uneaten food on the side of the trash can, I think this is very kind of me. I am supporting strays of many species

I'd rather give to bums on the street. At least I know they're going to squander it on booze.

Came across a post on social media. The guy was claiming he was a manager at Walmart and companies do this because they donate 42% of the proceeds. It’s an alternative revenue stream for the company.

Not sure if true but I’ll definitely be looking into this.

My pet peeve is when the local HEB grocery cashiers bug you at checkout for the annual Dell Children's Hospital drive.

If that infamous prick multi-billionaire Michael Dell wants to name a hospital after himself, let him pay for it.
