Louisiana Army National Guard’s Plaquemine-based 832nd Engineer Detachment, 528th Engineer Battalion, 225th Engineer Brigade is heading to Iraq for 9-12 months. I'm sitting here deciding what I want to eat for lunch, and these men and women are leaving their families for a year to serve our country in Iraq. Just wanted to give them a moment of our time to say thank you and come back home safe!
Spc. Joshua McCoy, 22, wraps his arms around his sister Jasmine Hastings, right, of Baton Rouge, just after a group prayer
Kenzley Gaddison, 2, reaches for her father, Sgt. Edward Gaddison III, left, during a deployment ceremony for the Louisiana Army National Guard's Plaquemine-based 832nd Engineer Detachment
PFC Brandon Baudoin, right, of Breaux Bridge, gets a hug from his mom Tammi Baudoin, center, as he visits with friends and family including sister Taylor Baudoin, left, before the start of a deployment ceremony
Spc. Adrian McQuiston embraces his stepson Damien Burton, 11, as they and family members including McQuiston's wife Alyssa McQuiston, left, rise at the close of at a deployment ceremony for the Louisiana Army National Guard's Plaquemine-based 832nd Engineer Detachment
Scp. Shakiya Young, center, of Baker, hugs friends Ayanna Lafayette, left, and Alicia Lafayette, right, at a deployment ceremony for the Louisiana Army National Guards Plaquemine-based 832nd Engineer Detachment
Sgt. Quincy Lendo, right, gets a photo taken with his father, Marshall Fredrick of Arnaudville, La., after a deployment ceremony for the Louisiana Army National Guard’s Plaquemine-based 832nd Engineer Detachment
Good luck and Godspeed.

Sorry, but I don't care. I live in the USA.
ETA: Should read "...leave our country to serve Iraq."

I've heard that group is about as sharp as a butter knife. Good luck.

You’re not wrong. Good luck to the rest of the Army in Iraq

Nothing like having a unit comprised almost exclusively of people just looking for a monthly check.

Would be more beneficial on the Border. We cannot fix the middle east.

Imagine the relief they must feel at not having to cross the Mississippi River Bridge for nearly a year.
Godspeed and Thank You, Soldiers.

Support our troops

I agree. Just get through it safely and come home. Don’t risk your life unnecessarily for Iraq.

I wish the soldiers well and hope they all make it back safely, but why in God’s name are we still sending people to Iraq?

Holy shite!
You have lost your damned mind.
Let me get this right...you're saying this unit of the formalized welfare system known as the U.S. Army is equivalent to the U.S. Navy Construction Battalions?
