Glycerin 17. I think they are up to Glycerin 20 or something by now. I've never been a shoe guy and the thought of forking over $160 for a pair of shoes makes me physically ill. That said, I'll never wear anything else. Saving me from that bullshite earned them a customer for life.

I developed it about 3 months ago. After 2 weeks of struggling, I went to a foot doctor who confirmed it as PF.
1. Stretching
2. Injections
3. Surgery

Fortunately, a lot of #1 did the trick. I also got the Dr Scholl’s PF insoles for all my shoes and I try to never walk around barefooted.
I limped around for a while but it never affected my golf swing. !!!

Insoles made a huge difference. My doctor recommended orthotics, prescription topical anti-inflammatory and stretching.
The difference has been amazing.

Mind me asking which podiatrist? I’d like to try that.

@gsvar, I am right where you are. Getting dry needles and ASTYM in physical therapy. It’s helping but I’ve been dealing with this for like 3 months and am beginning to wonder at what point I bite the bullet and let them shove the needle in my heel. But the responses in this thread don’t exactly have me rushing to do that.

Stretches worked for me. You stretching your heel? And buy a Pair of Oofos slides wear them instead of walking on hard floors.

I've had that occur twice. Takes months to heal right. It's the reason I switched to cycling.

Had this myself for the past 28 years….very painful at first.
I do stretches morning and night before bed, and even a few times during the day. The thing that helped me the most is the ortho told me to stop wearing shoes with leather soles. I have to wear dress shoes for work, so I was in leather soles often. Once I changed to rubber soles only, along with the stretching it made a huge difference. Good luck to you.

Step on the edge of a curb or a raised surface and lean forward, you will feel the stretch, hold it for a couple minutes repeat as much as needed. Also try stretching against a counter top with foot flat on floor lean forward and bend knee slightly forward. Stretching leg laterally on a chair also helps. You must do stretching every day to extend the tendon or it will shorten and pain returns!!! Give it a try.

Yep, I even built a slant board like they have at the chiro for home, been doing lax ball 3-4 times a day, towel scrunches with my toes, toe raises and calf raises multiple times daily.

This!
You’ll feel the stretch in your calf, but helps with the pain. I do these several times a day.

I’ve suffered thru this in my past. Some of the worst pain imaginable. There are pro athletes (Antonio Gates and Pujols) that PF almost derailed their careers. Here’s what I did:

Buy the orthopedic brace and sleep in it. It stretches the tendon. I got mine at a CVS for $35.

I resorted to filling the ice bucket with ice and soaking my foot in my Vegas hotel room.

My orthopedic doctor would not give me the shot. He feared I would rupture the tendon.

Do the golf ball exercise.

For the love of God, buy the Brooks shoes.

Remedies: Stretch toes toward knees, tape toes toward knees, ice bottle roller, any kind of ball rolled underneath foot, scraper, compression socks and/or KT tape, even Tiger Balm. Really a combo of all of that is best for fairly quick relief.

The true remedy is finding the right heel drop for your feet. If caught early enough, this not only remedies it but prevents it. I know most prescribe inserts, and I'm sure that works, but find the right shoes for your feet and pretty much wear them all the time and keep replacing them with the exact ones or specs. Once you know what specs works, you can test different ones within reason at times.

Obviously, if you haven't caught it early enough, you may need a more aggressive approach in the meantime such as a shot or surgery.

Mine got inflamed but I caught it early enough, treated it with the above remedies, then found the right shoes. No more issues. I can even vary my heel drop occasionally with not much issue now. But, knowing your specs is really important, and not getting too crazy when varying the drop.

Stop walking barefoot in the house. My wife and I both developed plantar fasciitis and was told by our doctor to wear shoes with good sole support at all times, even around the house. It went away for both of us.

Agree, i made a slant board but also found stacking 2 2x4s to get about 3 inches of height as a step ledge was just as good!

Sounds like you’re doing all the stretches you need. Try the Oofos. My podiatrist recommended them years ago and I don’t take my shoes off without putting them on. They’re wonderful.

Grab a pair of these to wear around the house, they’re incredible on the PF after a long day of work.
