That this was a suspected carjacker seems to have been buried underneath pictures of him as a 14 year old.

Suspected, not confirmed. Cops had no idea if it was for sure.

And the cop admitted to not seeing a gun and seeing his hands empty as he ran away from him.

I'm sure you can donate to his inevitable GoFundMe page, if you'd like.

And sorry- it was an attempted drive by- not a carjacking. I apologize.

The car matched the description, but the driver of the car was released without consequence. He was basically a cabbie.

Are cab drivers who drive for drive-by shootings usually released?

It's like running from a pit bull that is wanting to attack you. That animal instinct is triggered in that moment of the adrenaline rush. I know you guys watch live pd. You can see it in each episode. I generally support the po po but I think this is a bad shooting.

Well, that is awful.

Or did the cop admin he shot a fleeing suspect whom he knew 100% was unarmed just for fun.

Then it's OK.

And the system works. Thank God almighty!

Edit: FWIW, I'm seeing a lot of support in this thread, yet I was mocked the other day for hoping for the case to at least be brought to a grand jury.

Exhibit A why you never speak to the police. Even (especially) when you are the police:

Rosfeld provided police with inconsistent statements following the shooting, according to police records. In his initial statement, Rosfeld said that he saw "something dark" in Rose's hand that he thought could be a gun. He said it was just after that, that he opened fire.

When asked to go over the sequence of events at the conclusion of his statement, Rosfeld told detectives that he did not see a gun when Rose exited the car and ran. Detectives questioned him about the inconsistencies, which is when he said he saw something in Rose's hand but he wasn't sure exactly what he was holding.

I get that adrenaline takes over and people react on impulse rather than common sense

This. These criminals are so hopped on drugs and adrenaline that common sense and tasers won’t work on them and the only option is to shoot them

No idea about him, man...A truly messed up situation from Go Street....

Here's a video of the drive by that took place just before the Rose shooting. If this is the same car, I'm assuming Rose is sitting in the front seat.

Better than no cell phone video and we just take the cops word for it.

Oh I'm not saying the shaky cell phone video is the problem, It's decent evidence. But looking at these small clips and then forming an opinion and basically passing judgement is stupid but unfortunate what 90% of people do in nearly 100% of the cases.

Precious few people actually care about the truth any more. They just form an emotion bases opinion with little facts and start arguing their case.

There is definitely more to this than just a video.

As of now, this looks like a bad shot. Even if the guy did previously commit a crime. Unless you see a gun in his hand, or you have reason to believe, you can't just shoot him because he is running away.

This looks more like an officer too lazy to chase after someone, rather than an officer protecting his or someone else's life.
