Idk why a person, I use my real name btw, don’t hide behind a screen name, would make up something like that.
Sorry man. Maybe you didn’t make it up.

If GIA certified, this is a $60,000 diamond today.. maybe more depending on shape. I don’t know what the market was like 10 years ago but can you see how I would be skeptical to believe $12k?

I get that skepticism. It was definitely an outlier. The average decent 3 carrot was in the $18-30K range when I was looking then. Like I said after 2-3 months it popped up and I jumped on it. FWIW, the local jewelry shop appraised it at $28K when I brought it in with the certificate. In fact I used that appraisal to insure it at that price and prayed to God she’d lose it!lol That registry I used was way cheaper than Blue Nile though, idk how they made money and what their incentive was but it ended up connecting you with various wholesalers around the country.

Her friends would know. Talk to her best friend. She will be excited to help get that information and provide an answer for you.
If you have never met her friends before, or aren't on speaking terms with her best friend, don't buy a ring.

Buy the diamond from a pawn shop and order the band. You will save money this way

I got my wife a Great cut, F color, VVS1 3 carat for $12,000 from a wholesaler in Atlanta about 10 years ago.

I got mine from Solomon Brothers in ATL

Ask her mom. If her mom doesn't know then get her to find out. She'll be more likely to do it subtly and less likely to raise bride to be's suspicion that you're behind it than if you got bride to be's friend or sister to find out.
