I just wouldn't be terribly concerned about it, unless we see a sharp rise in BP in those who receive the vaccine. As it stands, it's pretty par for the course in that size population.

That is, if you take 100,000 people, over the course of a year approx 20 are likely to develop Bells Palsy. I’m not sure when the first human trials started for the Pfizer vaccine, but it’s certainly not a year. That means that on an annualized basis the incidence of Bells Palsy among those who received the vaccine is higher than the general population. Correlation does not mean a causal relationship, but on the surface it looks like the vaccine increases your chances of developing Bells.
Well it looks like the doctor was actually wrong, in that the normal incidence is somewhere in the 25-35 out of 100k range.
Which if you look at % and compare in a condense timeframe, then the 4 out of 38k would be less than normal incidence.

Only problem with that is the normal incidence stats are annualized stats. That is, if you take 100,000 people, over the course of a year approx 20 are likely to develop Bells Palsy.
20/100,000 is 1 out of 5,000
4/38,000 is 1 out of 9,500
So, roughly half of the incident rate of the general population
So in theory, the vaccine helps prevent bells palsy

The vaccine helps prevent bells palsy. So people afraid of bells palsy should take it

Oh crap, Spiro and zeenews.india are my main sources for COVID vaccine news. Gotta be true.

I can't wait for all the "the vaccine causes Bells Palsy" posts to go along with all the "the vaccine immunity only last 3 months" posts

Read on internet, must be true!

I mean the title of this thread should actually be
"Study: Vaccine recipients less likely to get Bells Palsy than those unvaccinated"
"Study: Vaccine recipients less likely to get Bells Palsy than those unvaccinated"

So why again should I take a vaccine for a disease that wouldn’t likely affect me and risk getting Bell’s palsy at all?
It's funny how you're all about the numbers being statistically in your favor.....until you aren't.

Oh so now all of the sudden people want to be both safe from covid AND able to move both sides of their face? Talk about moving the goalposts.

True or not, people will run with this for eternity as a reason not to get the vaccine.

herd immunity its pretty cool
Except that’s not exactly working. They are finding out that after you get it that immunity is only lasting about 90 days.
