So why again should I take a vaccine for a disease that wouldn’t likely affect me and risk getting Bell’s palsy at all?
worried about the vaccine when it may produce bells palsy at a lower rate than whats observed in the general population

Annually, 1 out of 1,750 americans get bells palsy
In the 6 month trial, 1 out of 9,500 vaccine participants got bells palsy
Anyone who looks at those rates, and thinks "oh no the vaccine may give me BP", is very bad at math and statistics

Do you mean the FDA?

They follow up on ANY SINGLE REPORTABLE EVENT during the trials
So if someone got strep throat during the trial, they will follow up on that too

They're not, their statement is "The observed frequency of reported Bell’s palsy in the vaccine group is consistent with the expected background rate in the general population" not "it helped to reduce the rate of bells palsy."

I am mocking the people in this thread who thought the OP was negative news
Put in this way, if the clinical trial showed the vaccine participants had a bells palsy incident rate 8x greater than the general pop, the anti vaxxers would run to the hills saying "IT CAUSE BELLS PALSY"
So, since it shows an incident rate 8x less, I am simply coming to the same conclusion that it helps prevent bells palsy

Even if it isnt true or statistically significant i expect we'll see a lot of this in the next few months.

Except that’s not exactly working. They are finding out that after you get it that immunity is only lasting about 90 days.
Except that people jabbed with Moderna's vaccine on March 16th have antibodies to this date.

Why would anyone without the risk factors get the vaccination, Bell's Palsey issues or not?
You don't want an actual answer to this, nor will you accept the one you are given.

If its safe I would rather not deal with those viruses

"The normal incidence of Bell's palsy is roughly 20 people out of 100,000. The Pfizer study examined 38,000 patients, so four cases would be within the normal observed incidence of Bell's palsy."
So why is this a news story? This is statistically meaningless.

I can’t wait for the ridiculous freak outs when some people die a few days after getting vaccine, because, you know people die everyday. And when you roll it out to millions of people, the odds of a few people dying in a close timeframe to receiving the vaccine is a 100% statistically probability

It definitely is an asinine statement and I will hold you to it but please feel free to call me out if you're correct as well.

So here we go again with people focusing on statistically insignificant reactions. For those of you keeping score, if you get a Covid-19 vaccine, you will:
1) Have severe allergic reactions.
2) Contract AIDS.
3) Develop Bell's palsy.

4 out of 38,000 doesn't seem statistically significant to me

Sigh.... explain to me how they can say with certainty that the response will last longer when the people who have received only received it 3 months ago?
Phase I started in March, not three months ago.

I find it really amusing that some of the same crowd that would get angry at some uber liberal hippie mom that refused to vaccinate her child and it led to a resurgence of measles a couple years ago because it fricked up our herd immunity .....
Now is basically acting like that same liberal hippie mom
“If I’m healthy why should I get it”
“If you want it get it, then you are protected so why do you care if I get it or not”

Phase I trials are in very small populations and while they monitor for side effects (obviously), they're largely geared toward efficacy and getting the dosing and administration right. Phase III is where you get to numbers that give you a statistically significant sample.

Anti-vaxxers were on both sides of the aisle.
