I’d buy this if Gen Z wasn’t having less sex on average than the generations that came before them

My last gf was 8 years younger than me, so this definitely accounts for some of the gap.

Someone help me with this math… how are 63% of men single while only 34% of women are?

Assuming there are an approximately equal number of people of each sex, how are these so far off? Are half of women in relationships lesbians? Is every one man in a relationship actually in two relationships on average?

Whatever the cause, there’s something wild about those numbers

63% of men claim to be single
34% of women claim to be single

37% of the men are apparently dating 66% of the women

So basically, almost every non-single dude is dating two chicks at the same time

Or

The women are lying

Have you seen “men” in that age group recently. They’re pretty feminine. May explain why so many girls are starting to bat for their own team and all these dudes are doing the same.

I think it's less of that and more of trashy women online with ridiculous expectations in men. Social media has inflated women's egos exponentially.

I read that as a lot of women who think they have a boyfriend, but men disagree.

How else do those numbers make sense?

Hookup culture imo leads to less sex on average. A 26 year old guy or girl with a steady significant other is going to have more sex than the vast majority of single people, even those that are wildly successful in the “hookup culture.” Someone could hook up twice every weekend and they’re still going to get lapped by most couples in their twenties.

You know why, after you hook up a couple of times. The woman swear y'all are together. Meanwhile the man has no intentions of actually being with the woman.

With regard to the incel thing, I think people who participate in their city’s social “scene” underestimate the amount of their peers that do not participate. Looking back on my early twenties, you see different groups of the same pool of a few hundred to a couple thousand peers going to the same 15-20 spots every weekend. That seems like a lot of people, but it’s only a small slice of the 20-something population of any city.

Same goes for Tinder or Hinge. Only a slice of the potential dating pool participates, and it’s mostly the same group as the one from the first paragraph.

Social media and dating apps. This is definitely a huge part of it.

I’m in the 18-29 bracket, and I don’t buy the women number for a second. I’d say about 2/3 of my female friends are single.

so what do you think is keeping people your age from getting into relationships? I’ve made my theory clear, I think the internet has perverted expectations and harmed peoples ability to talk to one another.

I’m not that much older than 29 but my friend group consists of mostly married people with two very picky single dudes who can’t find a girl because they won’t compromise on religious views and have run low on options in my area. One of those people is 30 and has basically resigned himself to being single for the rest of his life, which is sad but in my world very atypical.

I think it’s a very sad society being facilitated.
I'm with you, Ross.

People make fun or condescend by saying "It's the incels" or "hookup culture", but what do we do about it? Is this what we want for people? I have two teenaged boys and they face a completely different dating/relationship world that I did. I feel sorry for them somewhat. Part of it is how culture and media portrays men, most of it being dishonest. I just try to be a good example by being a good father and having a strong relationship with my wife, and the rest of our family.

And it's not just our youngsters, there's studies that are showing the number of single older folks is trending up with no end in sight. What we end up with is alot of people being alone. Which to me is sad.
