Did you ever consider this was a flash flood?

I.was in the area and it happened very quickly

certainly the city/parish can install a flood activated gate or warning system. I doubt the water came up while they were down there.

I drove by there this morning. The cars in the middle would have been penned in by other cars, unable to open their doors and maybe even windows.

The number of stalled cars around BR is crazy.

There were 6 just on the main residential road to my neighborhood

Airline Hwy looks like a spread out used car lot

The mayor believes that the parish doesn't have a drainage problem.

You know what tool I have?

Common sense. It’s served me great for 34 years.

Did he just not climb out his car?

This was also my first thought, but it’s possible it was surrounded on all sides by other floating cars. Terrifying.

Pressure held the doors shut, power windows shorted out, was too old, frail, or didn't have the presence of mind to kick them out.

Tell her to look at most canals that are full of dirt.
Ask her what drdd as image projects had she rammed through in her four plus years.
Ask her about her studies and plans. She has a lot of them.

I was driving around in the rain yesterday in my 4x4 truck with a lift kit around 7:30 pm.
My wife ordered sushi and i was going to pick it up thinking it was not that bad.
If I did not know my way around town where the low spots were I could have swamped my vehicle. I was amazed at the cars taking risk I would think twice about taking in my truck.

One area I got in the inside lane as I knew the water would be high. Someone comes hauling butt next to me and swamped their vehicle as it was hard with the rain to see the height of the water.

The area under bluebonnet didn’t become a lake in a matter of minutes. People do dumb shite like think they can drive through high water all the time and it sadly cost someone their life this time. Hell, people drive around the barricades on Acadian and still get surprised when they get stalled.

How did you come up with 19” of rain, and how did you measure this?

If you have had any type of water egress training kicking the windows out once the water rises and opening the doors is virtually impossible - the water pressure is too great. regardless of age or mind - throw in darkness and PANIC... no shot
