I saw a really short little documentary following around a police officer during a night patrol in skid row and it was absolutely fascinating and horrifying. You could tell he genuinely cared about helping the community and was respected by the residents

Ruston, LA >>>>>>>> San Francisco, CA and it's not even close. Those big city liberals make me sick.

I love it here. Best state in the union.

Grew up here in the westside of LA near the beach.
Beyond the wacko liberals, it just keeps getting more and more crowded. Traffic gets worse every day. R.E. prices are skyrocketing, which is a good thing for me, but makes it very difficult for younger folks or those moving into the state.
Plus our homeless problems are out of control along with the illegal immigrants.
Ca spends $2.3 Billion per year on benefits for illegals yet there never seems to be enough money to pay for the homeless who are overwhelmingly US citizens, including vets.

1. Having to subsidize other states and then having to listen to people in those states bitch about welfare and wanting California to fall info the ocean.
2. Hate that more people don't think the way that the OT thinks so they'd stop moving here.

beautiful weather most of the time, beautiful countryside, excellent job opportunities, variety in every category from climate to dinner, ocean, snow capped mountains, redwoods and desert are all within driving distance...just to name a few.

There are tons of conservatives and moderates out here. But, just like anywhere else, the weirdos are the loudest and that's all the rest of the country believes is out here. We're gonna take your guns and turn you gay. Join us!

It's not just people on this site, it's a large group of people from the South in general. They all have opinions of places that they've never been to.

Downside is that very little public land is open for hunting, and the areas that are open are overcrowded.

When land is worth $200K per acre the farmers tend to be more conservative.

Traveled back and forth there for weeks at a time over two-year span in San Fran, and loved it. Really loved it. I would have transferred and stayed if not for being married with newborn.

Coming to California to work is the best thing I ever did. I only worked 6 months last year and still made over $125k.
I live in San Jose, in Cambrian Park, right where Campbell and Los Gatos are. Great roads to ride my motorcycle on. Awesome beaches. Not far from Tahoe and so many other great destinations.
It has it's issues, but San Jose has avoided a lot of the problems of San Fran/Oakland. Hell, so has most of Silicon Valley.
I'll be just fine working here the next 20 or so years until I retire.
I've yet to run into any of the 'liberal loonies' the know-nothings on this board bitch about, but then I stay the hell out of San Francisco if at all possible. The average Californians I meet are pretty down to earth.
Some fine arse fricking women out here too. Not nearly as many fat asses as Louisiana.
