Grew up in south SJ.

But I think the difference is the south as a whole has a higher percentage of people who never leave.

Where do you guys see this stuff? I hear Southerners bitch about it all the time but the south just doesn't come up in conversation very often around here so there's not much opportunity to bash it.

I do see regional smack talk on sports boards but it goes both ways and normally people are fricking around.

Lots of people from all over go to New Orleans and it widely acknowledged as a world class city. Albeit with some issues as well (crime). As for the rural south a lot of the stereotypes are well earned imo.

Yeah, I'm not saying it doesn't happen but I think there's a bit of persecution complex at play.

Really????? Perhaps I should have called it San Fran or SF. Before the chicken farm that is Frisco Texas ever existed other than as a mail stop before 1990, the Bay Area, San Francisco, SF, what have you, was known as Frisco in short.

Yes, I do know what I am talking about and I've been to both and I would rather the shithole on the West Coast than the shitehole created north of the Metroplex....especially the North Beach area because the seafood is good and the Italian there is really good....thinking of ordering some abalone and having it overnighted

I've never lived there but I spend a lot of time out there with my job both in the LA area and the Bay area.

LA area first - Our plants are in Carson and Wilmington which is south west of downtown LA not far from LAX. I usually stay in Torrance because its easy access to work in the mornings and lots of places to eat and easy to the coast of Redondo, Hermosa and Manhattan beach bars and restaurants. I personally love it there. I would live there if I could afford to live like I do here with my salary.

The Bay area - Our plants are in Martinez, CA area which is east of SF and north of Oakland. I stay in a little town named Benicia, CA when I travel there. That little town is great with many bars and restaurants. NAPA valley is a short 30 to 40 min drive north of this area as well. I love it up there to and could live there as well. Its more expensive up there than in LA I find. The people to me are no issue really. The plant guys are all conservative type guys like me for the most part but the people I've met and made friends with are cool. The laws there make me scratch my head sometimes and I smell weed being smoked there more now since its legal but overall I'd rate it ten times better than Louisiana and I'm a born and bred 50 year old Louisianan. To each his own I guess.

Go to LA multiple times a year. I love it.

The landscape was just terrific. I could drive around that state for a month.
Most of the roads are desolate once you leave the city.
Though I even saw a Bigfoot crossing the road on me. I discussed this 2 years ago on the OT

I have family up north and travel there regularly. I don't have much of an accent, so most people don't assume I'm from the South unless I tell them that. I get to hear what they really think and then they're typically really shocked when I tell them where I'm from. I guess since my features take after the Jewish side of my family, they all assume I'm from New York.
