I’ll do it if there is a timing issue. Like if it’s urgent. And it’s not even an a-hole thing. I just want to urgently close my work as quickly as possible

I only cc them if I need something approved like my time. 99.9 percent of the time they say yes without knowing what the frick I’m talking about.

It depends on the situation. I have never done this to a co-worker.

But if I am the client and you can't meet my deadlines, and don't communicate status updates, and I have tried direct calls and emails, what other choice do I have to get you to do your job?

I would copy all and add her boss and ask why are you sending this email to my supervisor?

That's what I do if I'm not getting a response. Most other departments are scared of/hate my boss, so if someone sees her cc'd, it's actually more effective than involving their boss first.

Yes and I hate it. The moment I do it to them they pull me aside and ask me why I added the boss to the email. I said the same reason you do it.

Depends on the situation.

CCing an admin when I’ve had trouble with a teacher or parent has saved my arse a few times. Especially if it’s one I know that’ll be quick to try to throw everyone else under the bus for their frick up. There’s some I don’t even email unless I have someone else CC’d.

If you’re not that guy, then it’s petty as hell.

The absolute worst people are the Read Receipt people. The people who do this are literally the worst

This is pretty much the only time I’ll do it.

Other times are when I’m asking for something outside of the scope of someone’s work. I might cc their boss, sort of “asking for permission “ on their behalf.

Most of the time it’s because I need a response and this person has proven to be unresponsive.

3) Your boss told them, "cc me on anything you send SouthboundTiger" - could be a good thing because he/she will see how "in demand" your time is and maybe shift some of the burden off you or compensate you accordingly. More likely, it's bad though; rumor is going around that you're an unresponsive dickhead who keeps screwing up and it's another way for your boss to keep an eye on you.

Yeah definitely not a good thing IMO. If you’re really in demand, your boss will know that without being copied on all of your emails.

Micromanagement to this level almost never gets better. You’re either heading out the door or...yeah that’s pretty much the only option.

I love when people do that to me. Mainly because my company is infested with incompetent clowns. It always backfires on them.

Love those types who put on “read receipt” for their emails. I deliberately delete their emails so they get a response that lets them know I deleted it.

Then I take it out of my deleted box and read it.

Frick ‘em.

Anyone work with someone who copies their boss on emails as if to tattle on you?

It is not the tattling I worried about, but it is the micromanaging people that think that everything is important. When it is time to manage everything and decide what is important they can't decide what is more important.

I do this when people don’t respond or don’t do their work. Especially if I know someone habitually doesn’t answer emails. Answer your frickin emails and don’t be a slack off on TD all day.

I'm a contractor and our client leadership copies my supervisor, his supervisor, and the Director of North America operations on almost every single email.

He does it so often I don't even notice it anymore and he's definitely lost any urgency he made have had at first with that method.
