My psychology degree really helps me at the McDonald's drive through.

Nepotism. Tried to strike it on my own for a decade, but got sucked back in to the family glass business. Perfectly content with it.

Career Fair while a student. Blows my mind that so many kids waste that resource.

Got run off from previous job for voting for Obama.
True story.
It was unexpected so I had to start looking for a new job after I left, which isn't ideal.
Floated resumes with all the internet services and answered want ads. I am deep into my career so had decades of work experience, two degrees, professional license, etc.
Got dream job within 2 months with 50% pay raise in the same town and love the people I work with. No more arse kissing a republican sociopath.
THANKS OBAMA!

got mine through the career planning and placement center at LSU...
I dropped resumes and interviewed like a machine for everything that came available. I ultimately got several offers. the one that I picked has become a career.

In other words, you went from Burger King to Big Lots.

How did you figure out that was me?

Saw an ad in the paper. Researched online. Sent in my resume. Interviewed. Hired. 55 applicants, so not a huge pool. They probably interviewed six out of those 55.

Late to the party, but for my first job i was recommended by one of my professors to the owner of the company. Six and a half years later, my friend recommended me for an interview with my current employer. I chalk it up to being good at what i do.

f you like you job, how did you get it. Anyone can take one of those sales jobs that's commission only or door to door sales. They hire 100 people knowing 99 are going to quit.
I'm talking "great job"...how did you get it?
They came looking for me because I am a credentialed expert in my field. Do the work necessary to get to that level.

Graduated college then applied for a bunch of jobs and someone actually decided to offer me one
I said "Happily employed"

All by myself.
Did the job the best I could in whatever I was doing, I was always honest and never turned down new opportunities.

I was interviewed on campus in 1995, and have been employed by the same company ever since.

I applied on LinkedIn. I am extremely fortunate especially as I look back at how many resumes have been reviewed by our team. We have looked at over 500 resumes to build a small team. Those are the ones we have actually considered and not all of the resumes received by HR.
My longer story is that I got great grades in college which opened up top-level jobs out of undergrad. Served my time and this job came available. I could not be more pleased with it.
