Linked I’m is one of the worst (or at least the most obvious) about listening in on you.
I once mentioned to my girlfriend something about that point in the weekend when you realize it’s closer to a Monday than from Friday. Linked in peppered me with stories about the “Sunday scaries”.
It reads my calendar to know the days of my scheduled 1 on 1 and floods me with 1 on 1 tips.
I could give more examples. It’s just a site full of close yards thinking that we give a shite about their opinion of work from home or employment seeking process.

Picture this: someone’s company has gone through restructuring and instead of following the succession plan in HR that your boss had put in place, they just pull another director over to perform double duty over your department and their original one. You’ve been there 5 years, been enrolled in leadership training, and told you were next up for Director. You’re still employed, the paycheck still clears, but you’ve now been told “hey, you’re not moving up here”.
I don’t think there’s any problem with letting others know you’d be open to a conversation about progressing your career outside of your current org

LinkedIn is mostly a joke. It’s a metaphor for people to measure their ….ya know.
Mine is bigger than yours.
- Recruiters don’t properly recruit good talent.
- Franchise sellers contact everyone
- Every job has 1,000+ applicants

Absolutely false

Seems like it would pretty much kill any growth potential in your current role. And I see it very often.
Are you under the impression that it is loyalty that gets one a better position at their company?

Boomers. You would be surprised how many have lost high paying jobs over something so stupid. Others have gotten significant raises who we wanted to keep so it’s not all bad. You should see the Teams chats I’ve had to pull during HR investigations People are fricking dumb when it comes to using corporate email/chats.
I'd be less likely to hire someone who applied from their current email. I don't like hiring retards.

In 30 years of working, it never would have occurred to me to use corporate email, or put my corporate email on my CV. Then again, my personal email address was never KuteButtBubbles at yahoo.com

LinkedIn still exists?

In my career field, if you're at a job more than two years, you're leaving quite a bit of money on the table.

Statements like this make it easy to separate the blue collars from the white collars.

Especially in client facing consulting, it's required.
I need to look up the backgrounds of every client employee or potential client I meet with in order to gauge their level of knowledge to adjust my approach.

What field do you work in?

Cybersecurity.
Every time I've moved to another company, my salary has increased a minimum of 20k. If not more.

I’m a teacher. I just don’t see how it would still be relevant for any field. Last I was on it was basically Facebook jr.

See the first quote for the answer as to your second quote question.
LinkedIn is not for you.

I put this once as a feeler as we were going through a merger. As a Sr. VP, I got several recruiters bothering me with junior level positions. I mentioned I wasn’t looking to take a $300-$400k/year salary cut,
