right below insurance payments

Insurance sure came in handy when the roof was blown off my camp and it had to be gutted, also when my neighbors house got struck by lightning and it also fried my AC units.

These folks, most of them, live in crime ridden shite holes where one has to lock the doors at night and can't go to Kroger without a gun. They live in constant fear due to the insanely high crime rates where they choose to live....

We have one in our house 'cause people where we live wouldn't dream of sleeping at night without one. I have no idea if it works or not, it certainly isn't being monitored and it has never been armed that I am aware of. Hell, I ain't even certain I know where the key to the locks are at our house. We have locks on the doors - I know for certain, from time to time my daughter will lock the doors accidentally but I am never sure if I have a key or not. I can't imagine living somewhere that required locking doors and having security systems and cameras and god knows what all. I'd move if I thought any of that was necessary.

Same here. But I hate thinking that I need to do anything to ever try and dispel this goofball's "narratives."

My house came with an alarm system, but we do not use it. We have a 100lbs dog. The dog will probably lick the intruder if they get in, but he sounds scary as hell from the outside

Had some relatives come visit from out of state last month. They didn't get to our house until 11pm. Told us not to stay up for them, so we gave them our garage door code.

frickers woke up the whole house before they even opened the garage door. Would have plenty of time to reach in night stand for my gun if it were an actual intruder

Our homeowner insurance requires a centrally monitored fire and burglary system

I pay $41 a month for Alarm monitoring and I get an $800 a year credit on my homeowners for having it.

Dogs are undefeated in keeping away intruders. Alarm does not go off until door or window is broken or opened. Dog goes off if they touch the grass in his yard.

I was taking my morning dump while reading tigerdropings and thought "wow, I'm going to hop in TD and make a post about me bitching about people spending their own money"

Thank God you beat me to it.

I'm a huge fan of your posts. You do great work here.
I honestly find him hilarious and view all his threads to see how worked up he makes people. They bite every time.

Starting to think the OT baller thing is a myth if people are so insecure about finances.

Where do you think the thieves go to steal shite?

When my house was robbed, the fat arse EBR sheriff that responded never got out of his car. He called it in as a false alarm. When I got home, my door nearly fell off the hinges when I opened it and there was a crowbar in the middle of the living room. The thieves only took the TVs. It was part of a ring that was busted later that year.

It's a small amount and a little more peace of mind to keep what's most important to me a little more protected.

It matters whether it's your $60 Vivint plan, or your $9 Wyze plan. And your realization that all of this shite is detective controls, not a preventative control, or anything that is going to protect your wife's goldendoodle before assholes with stolen plates steal it. Guns prevent that, alarm services do not.
