A safety seal shrunk on the outside of the lid, like many brands use, would deter this.
Full disclosure: I own a company that sells heat-shrink safety seals to consumer goods manufacturers.

My biggest complaint about Blue Bell...not having a plastic seal on their cartons. They need to step it up and get new packaging equipment which can seal their cartons.
What other food is sold in the grocery without a sealed package (besides store baked goods and produce)?
Boxed food - sealed
Bagged food - sealed
Jarred food - sealed
Blue Bell Ice Cream - not sealed

Find out the identity of anyone who did this, and jail them for life. This is terrorism. Throw away the key.

Based on past incidents, food safety is not a high priority for Blue Bell.

I guess ice cream will be next on the list

If someone licks a tub of Blue Bell in the grocery store and dies from listeria, who is at fault?

The economics of these boxes is such that the theft/tampering has to be out of hand at a level that a normal person can't comprehend.
If I go buy whiskey and it's inside one of these boxes, I leave the store. The store has to come to the conclusion that the loss of goods is more than the loss of sales from inconvenience, which has to be staggering.
Now that I'm thinking about it, there's no way the costs of:
-Loss of wages due to asset protection increased wages
-Loss of wages due to admin paperwork due to theft
-Loss of goods
-Loss of sales due to reputation
outweighs:
-Loss of sales from inconvenience
-Loss of sales from store changes - (I know whiskey is locked up, so I go to a different store for all my good)
-Loss of wages due to staff having to unlock the cage
-Cost of cage and monitoring system
My final conclusion that it might actually just be better to eat the theft.

The silver lining is none of these mental midgets will do it without recording it, so that’s helpful…

Too expensive. Shoot them in the parking lot then call their family to come get them. When their family gets there, bill them for the bullet.

You don't have to worry about this as much when you don't live around people who like to do this sort of thing.

I have stated that many times...

A lot of ice cream is frozen upside down in the container to make the seal, which is why Blue Bell's lids are always hard to get off with the initial opening. If it's easy to get off, someone previously took the lid off.

From the looks of that skank that was with him that wouldn't be a problem for him.
