I just cannot imagine a scenario where that 30 second delay is going to have an appreciable impact on my life. If that 30 seconds is that critical, I'm probably not in the grocery store to begin with.

Paying with cash is fine, but why not have you cash in fricking order. I always keep my wallet organized biggest to smallest bills....Paying with an unorganized wad of cash that holds up the line for awhile is inconsiderate.

This is my only issue relative to how people pay (including check writers. Have that thing filled out with everything with the exception of the amount.), otherwise mind your own business OP.

My wife and I pay everything cash possible for budgeting purposes except for gas. We pay for that at the pump on a debit card.

I call it genius. No chance of getting your identity stolen. Cash is the way to go to avoid a lot of problems.

I knew a guy like that, super wealthy and you would’ve never known it.. We go out to dinner and he insisted on always paying... He’s the type of person who enjoys people’s company...

This is when she probably should have gotten the cashier to take out enough groceries to equal the $3.30 after taxes. Then you can just get pissed at the cashier while she tries to figure out how to do the math.

Or you can mind your own damn business.

Problem isn't paying cash, its the person paying it.

All my young nephews only have their cards with them and have to borrow from us older fellas because they don't carry cash.

Man, I'd be ecstatic at that. The 10% vig means you don't have to be as good at cards to come out ahead.

Plus, if you're selective and only loan money to the nephews you don't like, you won't feel bad when you have to kneecap one as an example to get the rest to pay you your money.

I’m not in favor of doing away with cash, but it would be great at grocery stores and Walmart’s to have ‘cash only’ lanes so I’d never have to get behind these trashy fricks.

I have no issue with people using cash, but an adult who doesn't have a bank account is almost certainly trashy.

The lady in the OP obviously had some sort of account, so I wouldn't say she is trashy, just a typical slow moving woman. Probably takes her 5 minutes to get out of her car after parking somewhere.

Last night at Publix, this lady took no fewer than 5 minutes at the only open register to try to count $32 worth of dollar bills and coins, while people behind her (including myself) were visibly frustrated. The cashier was rolling her eyes as this lady was fishing around in her purse for coins. When the cashier told her she was short by $3.30 or so, she paid the balance on her credit card. I don't understand why she couldn't have paid the initial balance on the card in the first place.

She may not have had enough to cover on the card. A lot of older people don't like dealing with cards and carry cash. Also entirely possible she is trying to avoid running up her credit card.

I pay cash for everything . Im young and married and budget very tightly. Sometimes if I dont have enough "food" money left for the week I will give them my remaining cash and use the rest on my card. I know it sounds crazy but it helps me budget and keep my wife within the budget as well. If there's no cash left, we dont have the money for it. Clean and simple.

Sounds like you are smart. My hat is off to you for watching your budget and not going into debt.

You could've easily done the "pay it forward" thing and paid for their groceries since you're ballin' and all.
