Whoops. Wrong thread. How did I get on the golf board?!
quote:

Ah yes so getting kicked out of school or “cancelled” is synonymous with going to prison or manual labor for years for questioning the information on the “supreme leader” and all the other communist propaganda.

you think getting pronouns wrong in the USA is as bad as disagreeing with the bs propaganda that they spew in nk???

you’re just being ignorant. Yes woke colleges are a problem, but Crazier than education in North Korea? No.
This chick can frick off

I feel like folks here are conflating interactions with citizens and interactions with government to some degree here.

I guarantee a student in NK could talk shite about dear leader or otherwise have controversial opinions, and his/her classmates or instructors aren't running to have them arrested for it, for the most part. In America, everyone around you fancies themselves a "monitor" ready to blast you publicly and make your life miserable for a simple opinion. So I don't find it hard to believe at all that American universities are crazier than those in the NK in that context.

Think likelihood vs impact. Here, getting canceled or expelled for a reasonable opinion is not as severe as being imprisoned or reprimanded by the government of NK. But the likelihood that you face consequences of any severity for an opinion shared amongst peers is much higher in American Universities.

what part, specifically?

I listed them if you read the post.

quote:

You mean white people?

White people, likely people like you, are certainly unnecessarily dramatic in many situations. Many black people are also pretty chill in most situations.

Your first thought was to divide people based on race here, kind of like what the waiter in this situation did. Maybe you should think on that for a while. You won't, and that is cool too. Most people just go through life hoping they don't have to encounter people like you or the waiter, and certainly don't waste time trying to change your kind.

The Washington's seem classy as hell, fwiw

Maybe, but I wouldn't make that determination based on that post. Their demands seem pretty damn extreme. How noble to not request a refund for a meal they ate while also pressuring the restaurant to spend much more on training, menu updates, and donations to a charity they support. It's not like most people don't already know that targeting blacks people based on race is wrong, including obviously the owner who will likely fire the people who did this.

To some people, situations like this are just a nuisance and it pisses you off for an hour. To others, every situation is a societal emergency that requires immediate and punitive consequences to anyone in the vicinity of the situation.

So she was actually breaking the rules, someone tried to let her know she was breaking rules, continued to do what’s he wanted then cried racism when confronted?

This is at the foundation of 90% of interactions with authority that end up with either the person or their family crying victim.

Before I dropped my weight, I was very proud of my 11 year sobriety.

this probably helps a lot. I can shed 10-15 lbs without changing a single thing except to stop drinking for a few weeks. But I fricking love whiskey.

Congrats for sure. Inspiring stuff. I have been displeased with my weight for a while (6'2 215ish), but it really hit me the other day when I took a video of my golf swing and could see the gut and love handles through my shirt. Time to do something.

Millions of Americans don’t have bank accounts or credit cards.

I have no issue with people using cash, but an adult who doesn't have a bank account is almost certainly trashy.

The lady in the OP obviously had some sort of account, so I wouldn't say she is trashy, just a typical slow moving woman. Probably takes her 5 minutes to get out of her car after parking somewhere.
Back when I lived on the streets in New Orleans, I preferred to steal money rather than beg for it. So when I did pan, I'd ask for a big whiskey instead of change. It worked amazingly well in the quarter compared to asking for money. I usually got drunk for free every day and only had to buy food for me and my dog.
They are so insane. A friend of mine is in the compliance office and they said it is all taken care of. The money comes from good folks looking to help, flows through the AD, and administered by another family.

LSU fans just looking for anything at this point.

I sure wish we would have "made" Shula when I was there!
From what I recall, LSU was driving down 1 until Burrow tossed a pick 6 to ice it.

When UF lost to UK they didn't go around saying they beat themselves.

Had LSU gone down to kick a field goal to win, I suspect many of you would be doing just that.

Yall probably won't have room to do it if yall luck into Atlanta, though. ;)
I for one have a lot of evidence against your claims. Some of which is damming to LSU. I welcome it. I'm one click away from shutting it all down.
I mean our money. Let's raise the bar. If this game turns into a battle of charity, I want to win that as much as the game.
Come on. I know we jumped the gun on laughing at the billboard thing, but it seemed to bring people together. I'm all for swallowing the pride if it means getting money to the panhandle. I hope the organizer reconsiders the Red Cross, though. I think we can come up with a better distributor.
quote:

They will put up one billboard if they reach 2000. The rest is going to the Red Cross. I also agree the red Cross is a bad choice, but at least the idea may get people to help and donate in other ways.

Yea, after reading it again, I see it's the excess.

Happy to give a little to this cause (a counter billboard would be hilarious), but after spending time down there and pulling out drywall with my own hands, I'll donate to local causes. Red Cross is a no go for me after reading about it.
Why does it attack an irrelevant gofundme? And why the red cross? They are a terrible organization.

I want to donate, but to be clear, am I donating to hurricane relief or to a billboard? It seems unclear.

The bye week has always been a great weekend of football. Looking forward to it.

UGA bounces back, IMO. Should be a great game.

Alabama is definitely favored to win but I’m with you on the other fan bases cowering before Bama. It’s desperate and disgusting. My team will fight to win and our fans won’t lick any boots if we lose.

The reason it's my favorite game of the year. The others seem to wilt when we rise. LSU, not so much. I may be rare, but I love it. Even my barn friends shrink to the challenge. Some of them couldn't even talk garbage after last year because of how weak they were before the game.
