The smaller one is for ground support.

They are still adding sections to the big one.

So they’re going to take it down by crane now?

Ah ok. I’m on the road and can’t see. Thought I read that in here.

Thanks.

There goes the good live wwl feed. I saw the cops tell them to get back

ETA: and we are back

also, looking at the fox 8 live feed, you can tell the considerable amount of lean on the one crane. Its moving a good bit each day

Story per the WWL guy is the basket is supposed to take engineers up to get a closer look at the tower cranes to make a plan on how to take them down.

Remediation was already performed on this building. Would love to see something happen with this.

The issue is more with the layout of the support columns in the interior. They are not conducive to any type of residential layout, not to mention the height of the rooms, as another hurdle to overcome. It is a plethora of roadblocks to overcome.

Should mention my involvement in pre bid meetings and these were the reasons mentioned for not proceeding with the project.

Why get experts to look at it? Plenty of TD baws said to bring them down with explosives. Just put some on the crane and let it eat.

The fact is that maybe this development shouldn’t have been given special “PROVISIONS” to move forward. At least two council members had enough sense to deny.

You Millennial kids love to use the word “provisions” wherever you can jam it in. Stop being worthless.

LINK

Winds are strong enough to move the wire rope hanging down on the northeastern crane.

Good quality photo stream

Just before 12:52 EDT, the iron I beam was rotating freely.

Does anyone know the brand of metal decking used or have a spec sheet on it? All the manufactures I've found online with 3" - 22 gauge composite galv metal decking have specs with max span lengths of 14 and 15' respectively for 5-1/2" of concrete. Or can anyone send me load chart of a material that meets the spec and can span 27' with 5-1/2" of concrete ?

Thx

In fairness, I think numerous players in this are going to file bankruptcy. This is just the first domino.

It doesn't matter the brand. The drawing calls out for 3" 16ga VLI metal deck. The VLI deck can be used as a composite deck, in this case meaning the deck steel acts as reinforcement. This deck is "rough" to allow the concrete to grab it, but the pictures shown appear to be smooth form deck which is not as strong. The pictures also show additional reinforcing not shown in the permit drawings, so who knows what they actually built. What is called out on the permit drawings does not work for gravity loads and I certainly would not have had a panel that big for the floor diaphragm either.

Need sources. I am doubtful Morrow Crane is filing bankruptcy over this. I guess it’s possible but I don’t see that.
