Did it penetrate the road surface?
I heard they laid some pads down on the street to help soften the blow.
The crane on Canal Street didn’t do shite except fold the jib.
They screwed whole thing up and $5mm just went down the drain.

The det charges went off without a hitch.

I think had the shorter crane's long arm not been stuck on the steel elevator shaft, the rest of the crane would have fallen backward on the Saenger. That part of the demo was a failure, but the current outcome of its failure is better than causing damage to the Saenger.

I think it is a win only because they didn’t frick up and implode the entire hotel while attempting to knock down the cranes.

this is like saying you'd never tour the Roman colleseum because part of it fell down. please think a little
You are so obtuse.

It’s not. It’s a complete failure

so hard rock fronted the money?
that’s highly unusual
I would have expected one of the owners insurance companies to have done that

I'd say half failure. One crane is down and manageable.

Does anybody else think there would be 3/4 of a crane on Canal if it weren't for that elevator shaft structure? How is this considered a "win??"
I think the elevator shaft actually held it up from falling back towards Rampart like it was designed to fall.

It's amazing the Coliseum is still up. You know all those holes? That's were the metal ancient version of reber was. It was long ago chiseled out and removed.

Meh, let's call it a push...
As has been mentioned, the surrounding buildings don't seem to be severely impacted, nobody else hurt, and the one crane seems manageable.
That said, the push is under review, as we wait to see what the review tells us about the crane precariously perched over Canal.

Seems like there have been cranes in that position before

Broad on WWL just called it the “median”. It’s the motherfricking Neutral Ground, ya heard me?!
Posted on 10/20/19 at 3:57 pm to Napoleon
Looked like the Canal crane was supposed to fall backwards towards Rampart but the counterweights fell into it and knocked it back towards Canal.
Posted on 10/20/19 at 3:57 pm to danilo
No neutral ground on rampart. At least that stretch

Sure, one's that have been secured properly and meant to be in said position...and that were not attached to a build that has partially collapsed and had been blown up in an attempt to take said crane down and not secured to anything.

Fair enough. Let’s call it a push, however the crane on Canal is a failure.
The crane on Rampart it’s too early to tell. The only win I can see so far is the Seangar has been spared. But it does appear that boom and jib fell the way it was supposed to.
