Parents who can't handle their kids getting cut

Our middle school recently had football team tryouts. We have about 800 kids in school. Football coach (who has been here a while) usually takes about 40-45 kids. We usually have at least 80 try out.
Very few 6th graders make the team. Most of the team is 7th and 8th graders.
A lot of these 6th graders are travel ball kids who have never been cut from anything before. They are upset... which I understand. It's a new experience for them.
However... the parents.. some of these parents of the cut kids are losing their minds. Instead of telling their kids that they just need to work harder... they are running their mouths.
Trashing the school and the coach on FB "Coach is an idiot... my kid deserves to be on that team". Calling the school principal and asking for the coach to be fired.
I guess in the past, when Braxxxxton wasn't good enough for one travel ball team, they just called the coach an idiot and found another team that "respected" the kid's playing ability.
Parents, when your kid doesn't make a team at school... console them... tell them it will be ok... and then help them get better at their sport if they want to try again next year. Don't trash the coaches and school on social media.
It's insane that this even has to be said.

I thought this was going to be a whittling thread.

Is it possible that the best kids were in fact NOT selected? What are the chances that you guys actually selected the top 40 kids trying out? Pretty slim to be honest.

You should have heard the parents bitching when we made several cuts on the majors tee ball travel Team last spring. Such language I have not heard in my life.

I had a coach tell the boys if you’re not where you want to be and you don’t make the team, just know that there is some kid out there working while you’re on your phone or video game. I think it resonated with some of the kids. Too much victim mentality out there.

One of the best things to ever happen to me was getting cut from a team. It teaches you many valuable life lessons.
Also, why are 6th, 7th and 8th graders playing with eachother? In larger middle schools that I'm aware of, each grade had their own team. Guess that has changed.

Sounds like you’ll be able to comfort some moms of Braxtons and Paxtons if you play your cards right.
