When my older child was a junior in high school I saw the fellow parents start getting competitive about where their kid was going to go to school.
I laughed my arse off when 80% of them ended up at the state school once they found out what the ivy league schools cost now and the fact that they don't really give merit based scholarships anymore.

I'm with you on this one. I always found the parents who help their children who help themselves to be true selfless leaders. Imagine if this world were full of parents who strived to get their children into a better life than they had, and the cycle continued.

Most kids will end up at lsu, some equivalent someone will claim is superior (thEy haVe a GooD proGraM) or worse. It is what it is. Few exceptions

I get it, but education is like currency; the more of it in circulation the less valuable it becomes. A 2026 Bachelors in business is equivalent to a 1985 high school diploma.

My apologies. I incorrectly framed the argument. And I was wrong in my perception of tuition vs fees. LSU’s own self assessment show how far the the cost of attendance outpaces TOPS.
Stop acting like kids are whiners who can’t pull 30-40k on a part time job, while being at collage, which is something their parents were never asked to do.

I am all for parents being supportive of their kids, but it is weird to think there was a time 40ish years ago or so when parents drove their kid to college, dropped him/her off in front of the dorm, wished them the best of luck and said "see you at Thanksgiving" and let them figure shite out on their own til then.

I am all for parents being supportive of their kids, but it is weird to think there was a time 40ish years ago or so when parents drove their kid to college, dropped him/her off in front of the dorm, wished them the best of luck and said "see you at Thanksgiving" and let them figure shite out on their own til then.
