so the point is... shut the frick up talking about thing you have zero clue about.

I know exactly what I am talking about because I spoke with Tony and that is what he told me. Our conversation was in 2011 when Lafayette Little League was headed back to the Little League World Series. He knew all of the players from the 2005 Lafayette Little League team, including Jace Conrad, Andrew Stevenson, Brenn Conrad, and he was recruiting those same kids at that time.

Tony recruited several Little League kids. Of course, he got Jace Conrad and his brother, both of whom were Little Leaguers who went to the World Series with Lafayette. He had had Johnathan Lucroy who was a Little Leaguer from Florida. He tried to get Andrew Stephenson, another Lafayette Little Leaguer who went to the world series, but he went to LSU.

I don't know what the fark you think you are talking about, trying to act like you know something special. You obviously have some kind of inferiority problem that makes you say stuff you know nothing about.

I’m not watching that video but is it 16,000 on the travel ball career or is it 16,000 a year on travel ball?

. TBoy thinks he is special because he had a 3-minute conversation with Tony Robicheaux one time at a fundraiser. He has been waiting since 2011 to tell this story.

are you fricking serious....2011? you dont think things may have changed since then?

i just gave you proof that tony said one thing and did another

of course he did in the early 2010s....that was before travel ball took over

bro...i went through half the class that made up the last one tony recruited before he died.....5 of the 6 i listed played travel ball and had pg tournaments listed.

say stuff i know nothing about??? yea show the proof. show me the kids that only played little league and only play HS ball that tony recruited in the 2016 & 2017 classes

put up or shut the frick up

not to mention 2016 was a fricking decade ago....might as well say the skip bertman recruited only little league kids because that is about the same difference. After covid little leagues across the state went to shite for the most part outside of leagues at 12u putting together teams to try and make a run to williamsonport

that 2021 lafayette little league team that went to the LLWS....yea lik 10 of the kids were from 1 single travel team, a AAA team at that.

every kid you see in the LLWS playing for one of the continental US teams.....also plays travel.

again...i know wtf i am talking about and posted proof.

brining up a conversation with tony from a decade and a half ago shows how out of touch you are.

because you are talking about shite from a DECADE AND A HALF AGO!!!

and ftr most of the really good HS programs in the state that send kids to schools like ULL....yea they require you to play travel baseball to remain on the HS team, especially the bigger programs.

not to mention....there are less than a half dozen leagues across the state to play in if you are 13 and 14....

not to mention the quality of play in LL means that if you want to make a half decent HS team, you have to have played travel. just to be good enough to make a team.

ftr every single kid that Jay johnson has recruited had been playing travel ball a long arse time....should we listen to him or Tboy who had a convo with Tony 15 years ago?

yall love to eat the sausage yet hate to see how its made

Apparently the problem is that “competitive little league” doesn’t sound like it exists anymore in most places, utterly consumed by the travel ball absurdity.

It's how it is around us. We are getting to the age where it's just an activity. If you are good enough, you don't want to play with the kids that can barely catch. I understand to a point. Once a few leave, more follow and now all you have is kids that can't play very well. We did a select/travel team for one season, but travel in the Houston area really isn't travelling. There are enough tournaments near you that cost is just what you pay to enter. Went back to little league because my son doesn't have the passion for baseball to make it worth it. And that's okay. Just sucks that LL is so bad. I'd bet the 12 year old team can beat the older kids teams, because all the good players seem to leave after 12ish and the LLWS dream is gone.

We’re getting close to the point where these travel ball kid names should be showing up in the pros.
they are in the pros. Almost all of the American players in the mlb today played travel ball. Thats doesn’t mean they did this dumb shite but if you know a kid that’s 13 and plays high level baseball he plays travel ball. I’m sure you can find an example of someone who didn’t but the exception proves the rule.

America is all about individualism. In a communist country, you have to pick from a list of approved names.

That sucks. As a kid, "tryouts" for the varying sports leagues was a big deal every year, with a full blown snake draft. And while you didn't have more than a handful of truly elite athletes in the league, the first few rounds of the draft had kids that you could easily build your team around, and filling out the allstar team each year left some solid kids off. And next season, you did it all over again.

Playing on one team for years, traveling around playing teams with people from cities you don't give a shite about, with no end season goal of a real championship or allstar team (and don't get me started on the hundreds of "world series"...) is just pale by comparison.

supporting my kids doing what they love is silly?

i dont care what your kid does or what you spend your money on....why do you care so much about what i spend mine on or what hobbies my kids have?

and if my kid signs....do i get to rub that shite in your face? or what if he graduates with a 4.0+ and a 32+ on the ACT...do i get to say...hey NIH...eat a dick? just wondering

and ftr I have posted 100 times....if you cant afford it or your kid doesnt want to do it....thats great. i support that. I do not care how others spend their money

One of my friends, former 2-year Mr. Baseball in LA, has kids who are getting to the age of really segregating in sports and he preaches the hell out of non-specialization. His boy is playing at least baseball and football competitively.
travel ball has nothing to do with taking away from football. Plenty of kids play travel baseball and aau basketball and still play football.

i wasnt and actually agreed with 95% of people in the thread about the OP

only thing i even got annoyed with was TBoy and him saying Tony R didnt recruit travel kids, only little league....then when i post proof that was wrong he brings up a convo he had with tony in 2011.....as if that is fricking relevant in 2026

everyone has their opinion on travel ball....we all wish it didnt cost so much but the fact remains...to make the HS team at most HS with good programs(like almost every1 in the BR area) you will have needed to have played travel ball to have the skills to make it. doesnt matter how good an athlete you are...if you are 4 years behind in the skill deparment. that is true in 99.99% of cases.

now in smaller rural schools that is different. everyone should weight their particular situation with that and include what your family can afford both in money and time
