At my daughters school in Metairie, the registrar was getting paid to let some families get into school without paying tuition. It went on a few years before she was caught. I’m sure some of you know which school.
It was caught when the new pastor arrived. Apparently all pastor do an audit when they arrive at a church and he called JPD and had them arrested.

Honestly i can believe all of this, and i don't give one frick.
I went from christian. To athiest, and now i am a praying, but incredibly sceptical person. I am a highly analytical, and incredibly reality based person.
In my head religion was made by man. Who is flawed. So thusly religion must be flawed. Yet there is such a following all over the world of different view points that i feel there may be something I'm missing. I see how some could abuse this system. Church is not in any way a huge deal to me. My child loves to go though so I go. I pretend like I give a shite to my wife so she will continue to think I agree with her 100%, and my mother will stfu.

I dont care for either of these but, all in all, I'd rather the guy go home and bang his wife and not drink than go home and drink and bang the alter boys instead.

I know exactly where our pastors funds go. Pastor Steven Furtick has a 7000 sq ft house, and he spends the remainder on steroids. Your church needs some accountability.

Churches have a lot of power when it comes to the handling of money. Pastors/Bishops/Preachers/Whatever can receive a lot of benefits that can be sweeped under a rug; moreover when they 'own' the Church. Nice salary, housing allowance, car allowance (especially when the car is on the churches books), use money for whatever purpose they see fit, and the best of all - no obligation to report to the IRS.

Churches fault for not having checks and balances in place.
Our church procedure
Routine background checks in all pastors
Each pastor had a credit card with $1000 limit if you spend money you dang sure better have a receipt and explain what reason the money was spent.
Only the secretary can cut checks but she can’t sign.
Every week the treasurer comes by and reviews all bills and checks and questions anything out of the ordinary.
Finance committee constantly watches the bank account for anything suspicious.

You have to know it isn't an either or choice. I think if any of you are in any religion or following because of the speaker and not because of what is spoken then you are absolutely destined for failure and disappointment.

I get that lots of people here hate on big churches, but how are people always just so wrong. These churches are registered as a 501c3 which means they have yearly reporting obligations (as they all make more than 50k/year). That and any huge megachurch has external audits to fight against the perception of mishandling money.
While certain states do allow pastors to take deductions/exemptions like housing, it not every state.
