Another one of those “would you rather be shot in the head or shot in the gut” threads.

What about not being shot at all as an alternative?

People love to rail on BR, but there's WAY worse places out there.

I would love to move to Baton Rouge, Ascension, or the north shore.

They wouldn't be on my radar if not for family/friends in the area though.

Having lived in BR for ten years and now NJ for 12, NJ all day.
I live two blocks from the ocean, can walk to restaurants and concert venues, about a ten block radius.
Taxes are high but we can deal with that, maybe not when it is time to retire, but for now we are good.

I like having four seasons, like the cold and the summers are not brutal. Plus in the summer I can walk two blocks and swim in the ocean.

Drawback in the summer is Asbury is a tourist weekend destination so the town is packed

comparing a state and a city?

There's awesome places in NJ...Newark isn't one of them.

I have two addresses - one in Pennsylvania and one in west loop in Chicago.

I'd happily move to Baton Rouge, Lafayette, or the northshore if the opportunity presents itself.

There are innumerable shitty areas, but there are also some really nice areas. Garden District, College Town, I loved living off of Park Blvd in the Garden District
