Currently in Northern NJ with 1 hour 1 way commute to Newark
Recruiter contacted me about a similar job in Baton Rouge
What would OT do?

I'd rather live in BR but that's entirely subjective. I'm sure NJ is a better place to live than LA by a wide margin.
I spent 4 months in Vineland, NJ and have a negative opinion of the state and people in general

Some nothern NJ communities are great, but the costs of living suck.
Baton Rouge beats the hell out of south Jersey though. Or any NJ suburb of Philly.

Where in Baton Rouge would I live?
I thought it was a shite show?

Oh how I’d long to be stuck in traffic on the bridge right about now

I think my wife applied to something out there. Hope we don't have to move there. I'd rather stay in Pittsburgh.
Or move back to Louisiana even.

What’s Baton Rouge’s Princeton?

People love to rail on BR, but there's WAY worse places out there.

Property taxes on modest 1950s 1500sq ft home is $10k

I know a lot of people who work in NYC who live in Jersey and they love it.
With that being said, we lived in jersey and my dad worked in NYC and he quit his job and moved when I was like 3 mo the old

Stay away from anything north of downtown and Florida Blvd and you’ll be fine

Well one is a state and the other is a city.... so....

Indeed it is. I just prefer the people in the South. Obviously very subjective.

According to the OT, Baghdad is better than Baton Rouge. That being said, if you really need to ask between NJ and Baton Rouge then I can’t help you. Go South.

Most of New Jersey is wilderness and pretty nice. You happen to be in one of the few armpit areas.
