OT Plant workers - how’s your facility handling the new supply chain issues?

I’m in industrial sales and I can tell you first hand getting material to fill orders has been a massive headache as of 2021 and this year so far. What’s worse is talking to some of my friends who work for competitors, they are all having the same problem.
Ultimately our plant customers are the ones getting screwed. I’m just curious how you guys are handling the new supply chain issues.

not exactly a plant baw but it's a headache on a weekly, if not daily, basis

Purchasing, Accounting, and operations meet to work on the parts that are sole source and have long lead times. Have to adjust and spend money to have a good inventory level.

Different industry but it’s a mess. Dealing with it everyday.

Not a plant baw but in commercial construction. Lead times have been insane and doesn't look like it's getting much better.

Ordering any and everything in duplicate because of the 6-12 week lead times. Warehouse is full of shite.

Better increase your budget for kolaches, donuts, boudin, embroidered hats, and high fence hunts or you're gonna have some upset Maintenance and Ops Supervisors! T-Ron don't like waiting on materials!

My wife is in purchasing for a manufacturing company. They've been begging/borrowing/stealing all year to meet production quotas. Now the owner and higher ups expect it to keep going full speed untouched. All their competitors have scaled back their products to be more in line with supply. Yet these yahoo's have the balls to think they're bigger or more special than the whole world to be touched by this.
Needless to say... they're now waiting on parts because they failed to respond to the repeated warnings of shortages looming. Money is nice but right now there isn't an amount of money that will buy some of these parts.
And now they're also seeing around 1/4 of their management and over 1/2 their workforce leaving due to the continual 'never good enough' attitude even though they literally were miracle workers throughout the first year of this debacle.

I'm in purchasing for a Rigging outfit.
It's a nightmare trying to piece shite together from multiple vendors.

I'm in medical supply purchasing and logistics and it's insane. I could have predicted this last year, but the CEO's etc were caught off guard. Major shortages in everything from needles, to gloves, Covid test kits, various tubes for blood testing etc. It's insane. Our clients are trying to over order to compensate for the backorders and delays, which is another issue in of itself.
Also, instead of acknowledging this supply shite show, upper management just keeps bitching and asking for us to make supplies appear out of thin air

Price increases across the board. Orders submitted twice as long as before.

Playing out across every industry right now.

We can't get shite. Not like they ordered what we need anyway. It's like Biden said "Let's take the Suez canal and times by a bazillion." " Mister President, bazillion is not a form of calculating."
"It is when I'm done!"
"It is when I'm done!"

It's refreshing not to have to hear about the trucker shortage, because no one has anything to ship. But I'm a glass half full kind of guy.

In IT it's insane. Just something like a basic wireless access point, lead times are something like 3-6 months.

As long as we have natural gas coming to us at 400 psi in that pipe we're good to go.

Not a plant baw but getting a steady supply of computer hardware can be a pain. This is especially so with laptops and other mobile hardware.

handling it like shite...honestly. we are ordering capital spares a lot more now a days.
making record profits so last thing they want is for a unit to shut down. get your arse chewed if it does.
