Make a check list by categories, you can find examples on web. Then allocate who's doing what. Set take off time.

My ex-wife wasn’t too bad with the packing aspect. What used to kill me was we’d hit the road and about ten minutes into the drive, she’d announce she was hungry and wanted to drive through somewhere for breakfast.

This. Wife and kids get their crap
Together the night before. We wake up and I load the bags. Doesn’t take long. Maybe 30 minutes after we wake we are out.

Went to Grand Isle for the weekend. It took me about 58 minutes to pack. Had to go get ice, pack and ice chest with beer and water, get my trot line for the crabs, chairs, umbrella, fishing poles, tackle box, clothes and overnight bag together. My wife had to pck clothes and makeup and somw food, took her 2 1/2 hours.

Never fails, no matter the woman in any of my relationships it is inevitable that after we’ve left the house a couple of miles away she always forgets something we have to go back for.
Sunglasses, cell phone, purse, make up….

Took us about 30 minutes, but everyone packs the night before, and we're on the road by 6:35.

Me: 10 minutes
Son: 10 minutes
Wife and daughters: start a week ahead of time and we still leave an hour later than planned.

4 days for a beach trip
8 pair of underwear
8 shirts
2 bathing suits
4 pair of shorts
As long as the condo has a w/d that’s all I need
One pair of shoes
Loaded shaving kit
Ice chest and groceries can be dealt with once we get there
I can be out the door in 20 mins

We take a lot of stuff. I plan it over the span of several days….assort clothes, items, etc. and stage everything. During that process I realize that we are forgetting xyz and address the issue. Then on departure day it is plug and play with only toiletry bags left to pack. Takes about 90 minutes managing both packing the car and getting kids ready.
I laugh when people (especially women) say with anxiety “OMG I have to go home and pack the family for our Europe vacation tomorrow morning, and we have not even started!”
I’m thinking yes your family definitely lives a chaotic life, and either it drives your husband crazy or he flat out does not give a shite which put you in this position.

This is a “why are women like this” thread BTW.
We are a family of 8, takes us with packing and loading about 30 minutes.
I don’t mind doing laundry on a trip. So we pack light. Anything we forget, we can buy when we get there. Kids are responsible for their stuffies/electronics.
Looking out the window is good for you.
If it took us 3 hours, I’d leave without everyone.

Usually my wife packs up the car the night before so all we have to do is wake up and go. Then we wake up, get ready, pack up the few things we still need. We wait in the driveway in the car for about 30 minutes while my wife goes through the house and checks everything, then off we go until she realizes she forgot something. What it is and how far we've made is determines whether or not we turn around.
Just a side note, my wife is an OCD control freak when it comes to preparing for travel, which is why she loads the car, but she usually does so with my help.

My kids are old enough to pack for themselves now, so we pack our bags & bring them to kitchen & hubby is in charge of actually packing the car. I do all snacks & make sure everything is charged. We’ve been doing travel ball for years now, we travel pretty light at this point lol…we could all be completely ready to go in under an hour.

The load is quick. The pack takes days with women involved.

I gave up caring. I pack my bag and leave my stuff by the van and she can pack it.
Used to be huge arguments where I couldn’t conceive why we needed to pack the van so full that the kids had to climb over shite for a short trip.
But the answer is hours.
When I take the kids by myself… we take 4 little duffles and a cooler. I can walk in an announce that we are going to a rocket launch and need to leave in 20 minutes, and we do.
We can know for a YEAR about a trip, and my wife will wait til the day before to fret about it and stay up all night.
