As a canuck Robert Munsch (spelling?) Books are in the mix. Some have been mentioned but he often updates a traditional story. Great illustrations and both my kids liked them. They are some ofnthe few kids books we kept for the next generation

for my older boys, when they were 8/10 i started reading them the hatchet book series. they loved it.
