Honestly, Vitamin D deficiency has several ties to health issues so it wouldn’t hurt to take it anyway. It’s also long been studied to help with reducing severity of respiratory illnesses so it makes sense.
Also, depending on where you live it’s not as simple as getting outside to get it. I had a deficiency (still take it to maintain) because I have to wear sunscreen when I go out (Mom had skin cancer).

I’ve run at least 5k every calendar day of 2020 so far.
I have not caught the COVID-19.
Therefore, using the OP’s “logic”, consistent short distance running prevents infection.
Please let the WHO and the CDC know.

Just got out of quarantine. Wife works C19 ICU, been taking a multivitamin since March. Dove hunted first 2 days of symptoms. Fever spiked that night, woke up took some Tylenol and drove 12 hours back to Baton Rouge. I’m 49 and overweight, other than losing all sense of taste and smell for over a day, it was pretty benign. I’ve fished or hunted almost daily last 2 weeks as weather allowed. Not sure if it helped, but it doesn’t hurt.

I’m pretty sure regular exercise is a recommendation to help prevent many diseases.

CNN was bashing that as ineffective a few weeks ago.
(But actual medical providers like Ochsner have billboards asking for donors. Funny how that works.)

Vit C, Vit D, & Zinc to Minimize/Prevent the Rona
no, none of these prevent a viral infection...
Vitamin C does not "boost your immune system", as many manufacturers claim/advertise... it is an antioxidant, so it may help, to a degree, with cellular damage from free radicals that are created in times of viral infection... but make no mistake, it will NOT prevent you from getting the virus in the first place... and keep in mind that too much Vitamin C can cause kidney stones...
Zinc, same thing... it's marketed as an "immune system booster" and it doesn't work like that.... this Is a good time to remind everyone that we don't have 1 single medication on earth that can kill a virus, and the only way to prevent certain viruses, to an extend, is vaccination...
Vitamin D is not even a vitamin... its a hormone, and plays a pretty integral part in the body's overall health and well being, but in terms of being something to combat Covid, yeah, no... its worth keeping in mind that Vitamin D is fat soluble and accumulates in the body, unlike Vitamin C and Zinc, which you just excrete what your body doesn't use.... and while it would be pretty hard to overdose on Vitamin D, it's possible.... you'd be looking at high levels of calcium in the blood, which can cause heart arrhythmias, along with mental confusion, nausea, etc..

Or just drink moonshine or 120 proof knob creek. 60% alcohol is the cure right?

Zinc
Very well established as a weapon against respiratory viruses. It slows viral reproduction thereby giving your immune system a head start.

Vit D
Hard to nail down definitely because patients are notoriously bad medical historians. But it would explain why black Americans are more likely to contract the virus (even in states like Mississippi where the white case fatality rate is higher). The best source of Vitamin D is sunlight. Second best is dairy, and black Americans are more likely to be lactose intolerant.

Vit C
Also well established as a means to reduce the severity and length of respiratory infections.

I’m interested because I’m old.
I am too. Been taking a shite load of C, 1000, twice a day. D3 500 once a day. E,1000, twice day. Beta,500 twice. And another one, I can't think of it.

If you’re going to take zinc, you might as well take 250mg Quercetin to help with transport. The advice I saw from a physician was 25mg zinc + 250mg Quercetin.

I got Covid in June. 3 days of chills, low grade fever and fatigue. Another 12 of fatigue and night sweats. Woke up day 15 drenched in sweat but felt better. I was taking all the vitamins - multi,C,D and still got sick. The worst part about it was the length of time it took to fell better but was never close to ICU etc.

I got my Vit C with Bayou Satsuma Rum when I had the rona in April and I survived.
Took about four ounce doses twice a night. Highly recommended

It’s probably not a bad idea to alter your diet to consume more vitamins and essential nutrients and/or supplement with products ever. Just go with that.

Fish, check out chagga tea. Amazing stuff for the body. Best is grown on birch trees.

Took about 12 hours after the infusion was complete to realize benefit.
Wife and I will become donors.
