That would be the very definition of “witness intimidation “.

wish I could show details, but...I do think I have a case against this PD since I was the victim of the "battery" should have been attempted murder (stabbing), but....enough info..but I'm not the victim according to this PD and getting a detailed text of how he will rape me on the stand. Weird.

I’m not sure I follow. You were stabbed by someone, recently contacted by an attorney representing the police department, and have a claim against the police department? Did a cop stab you?

Communicate it to the people on your side. This guy will be off the case. Hopefully.

It sounds like he fricked up.

I'd definitely meet him at a coffee shop to negotiate his client's future guilty plea, which would include a huge amount for "restitution" from both of them.

If you play this one right, you might have stumbled upon a Christmas present gold mine, without having to get Gordon and make 38 trips to the chiropractor.

Good luck.

This attorney sounds like a major frickwit, sending a threatening text to you. If you are going to threaten someone, you don’t put it in writing.

I can see this. It would be hard for someone to stab you from 2 states away.

Report it to the DA, and ask the DA to request that any further communication with you should go through their office.

Defense attorneys can and often do contact victims and it is perfectly legal (in all jurisdictions I am aware of) with some minor jurisdictional differences for domestic and sex crime cases. Contacting victims is actually part of the ABA Standards for the defense function.

The only issue here is whether the communications meets the standard for intimidating or unduly influencing the victim/witness.

The defense attorney is cut off cold if the victim asserts they want no contact with them, the standard for effectively ending contact varies from state to state.

As others have mentioned, you should report it to the DA and possibly the chambers of the Judge (not the Judge directly) for the division handling your case.

That said, I'm highly skeptical. Yes, there are janky public defenders out there, but this would be a whole new tier of stupid.

Unreal

Sounds like a metaphor. He thinks you're wasting everyone's time and he wants you to go away, so he's giving you a sneak preview of how things will end up in court.

If they didn't break any rules, then again, don't worry about. Just show up and tell the truth when you are supposed to testify and you have nothing to worry about.

But make sure the judge and jury hear about the attempted witness intimidation during your testimony.
