It’s ok.

You can go work.

It’s not a trap.

This. At the very least you'll earn brownie points with the MIL. Besides, I'd think you'd want to be with your wife who just had surgery...

I’ve been up since 0400 and very little to eat. I’m also typing on a phone so I apologize about my incorrect grammar.

Looks like the consensus is to run home, freshen up, come back in a few hours with some goodies.

Go home, rest, freshen up and either bring your mil something to eat or stay while she grabs a bite. See what your wife says at this point to determine whether she wants you or the mil to stay. The mil is going to need some relief at times, too, so y'all can tag team.

I wouldn't leave now and not go back at all until tomorrow.

Yes. And good healing vibes to your wife.

You num-nuts. This wasn’t birth control. She was having issues so they needed to remove it. If this was birth control then I would have got snipped.

This for sure is the only answer. More so on the second quote.

Just saw this, uber it home leave your car for MIL if at all possible.

Or if you are in similar circumstances to me, ring your chauffeur around.

why not have MIL uber if needed. She's a woman likely can't drive well in a not so familiar territory with a not so familiar car.

I change my answer to go home and freshen up, rest now and bring your MIL dinner later, your wife too if she can eat today.

Go home, take the uterus with you, do something cool with it, then go back to your wife

Stay and drive her home. Or she'll bring it years later. Trust me on this one.

Go home. They're okay and that's why family comes in from out of town on these occasions. Plus, they will do the whole cry over the loss of the baby oven deal, even if she never planned to ever have another one. If the wife hasn't had a kid yet and wanted to, then you're in for a long and rough road.

Make sure to offer to bring back anything that's needed and give them a specific schedule of when they should expect to see you back up there.

In addition to what everyone else has said, make a pot/thermos of GOOD coffee and bring it. I guarantee you they will appreciate both the food you bring AND the coffee. You know good and well the free coffee on the units in the hospital are cricket urine, at best.

I sent my husband home after my surgery. Nobody needs to stay in a hospital overnight unless patient is a child. Go home and get rest. If MIL wants to stay and wife is ok with that then take yourself home. It’s always a weird subject and my husband always wants to be there and so do my parents and even his parents (I’m well loved), but as the patient you want everyone to feel like they are helping. Again, to home and rest. Be back bright and early and take your wife home. She’ll need lots of tlc for the next several days.
