Wrong. They may say this because why not throw out a little dig - but Orvis is closing half it's stores because of Amazon and Walmart. Orvis is closing half it's stores just like Bed, Bath, and Beyond, just like World Market, etc.

One of the nation’s oldest outdoor retailers is closing dozens of stores as it looks to streamline its operations.

Ehh no one goes into these overpriced stores especially in poor states like Louisiana.

Retail is taking a hit because it's cheaper and safer to shop online.

Last October, the company announced it would lay off 8% of its workforce, 112 people, and discontinue its catalog.

They were already hurting a year ago.

In his statement Thursday, Perkins said the retail downsizing represented an attempt to focus on the business’s core strengths: fly fishing and bird hunting. The shift will also bring a “tightening” of the products the company offers, he indicated.

In other words. We tried to become Columbia and North Face, and it didn't work.

only time I ever went to Perkins Row Orvis was when my wife insisted on coming with me to the CCA rodeo and needed a "new outfit" for the boat.

Why does it matter that some specific business is going out of business?

Happens everyday, to thousands of businesses. Sure, it's unfortunate in some general sense, bu.... is Orvis special?

I’m sure it’s because of tariffs and not because no one has been inside an orvis store in 20 years.

Both my husband and I love Orvis. Their UV stuff is really good and it works. They had a customer appreciation event a little while back and they were packed.
